Guest guest
Laurie, I will let Val and Nick respond to all your results. I wanted to say welcome and hope you are able to find answers soon. You surely have gone through a lot, and with a heart rate that high, low temps, etc. You are definitely hypothyroid. I noticed you had an iron panel done, but one test you need to add to the list is your ferritin level. This is your iron stores, and if this isn't in the 70-90 range you will have a hard time with raising your thyroid medication. Definitely a bad RT3 ratio, which Nick and Val will tell you will only be helped by T3, which you already have ordered. So while you are waiting for the T3 to arrive definitely get your ferritin tested. You will need to be off all iron supplements for 5 days before testing. GOOD LUCK! and hopefully we'll be hearing a success story from you in the future! Terri From: plumbcrazietoo Sent: Tuesday, March 09, 2010 7:30 PM To: RT3_T3 Subject: New - Please Help - RT3 issue? I am new to this site and noticed that no one has temps as low as mine are!! My temp's range anywhere from 93 – 96.6 degrees (not daily average). My normal body temp has always been 97. I am 55 yrs old, have never had a normal temp of 98.6. For over 15 years I felt my symptoms, IBS, body aches, numbness, sore tongue, dry mouth and eyes, rapid heart rate, palps, arrhythmias, were all related to PMS/thyroid issues. No exhaustion to speak of though. Docs blew me off because tests were normal. Finally found and sought the help of a bioidentical hormone practitioner in 2007.Her attempt to help via hormone treatment failed (never drew blood), but did do a saliva test. Based on the results below, she put me on hormone and neurotransmitter drops, along with creams, testosterone and pregnenolone. Progesterone cream would make my heart race. B12 is like speed to me! Nothing helped how I felt or my heart rate.Saliva test 2007:Estradiol 2.2 [1.3-3.3] in rangeProgesterone 15 [75-270] LowPg/E2 7 [100-500] LowTestosterone 9 [16-55] Low DHEAS 4.8 [2-23] in rangeCortisol morning 5.9 [3.7-9.5] in range Cortisol noon 2.8 [1.2-3.0] in range Cortisol evening 2.5 [.06-1.9] High Cortisol night 1.3 [.04-1.0] HighBecause hormone treatment was not working, my hormone practitioner referred me to my 6th cardiologist, due to my continuing rapid heart rate. The cardiologist (he has thyroid issues too) ran blood tests, which finally confirmed hypothyroid/hashis, Jan 2009. He put me on Armour, said I'd start feeling better soon. Well, I have not.Instead, started new symptoms. Had trouble breathing when doc increased Armour dosage from 1 grain to 2. My research brought me to suspect Adrenal issues. My hormone practitioner wanted me to take desiccated adrenal supplements twice a day. Cardiologist was clueless on adrenal issue. Neither one told me to stop thyroid meds while taking the adrenal supplement, which was of no help either. A few months ago (Nov 09) I was yet again hospitalized because my heart rate was 185. As far as I am concerned, what the docs overlooked in the ER was, my TSH level was 19 (stopped thyroid meds for 2 weeks and look where it got me) and my temp was 95!! Had difficulty breathing, so ER doc thought I was having a heart attack. As in the past, I was put on more heart meds, which I have since stopped. After that, my cardiologist reluctantly switched my thyroid meds to Synthroid. He prefers Armour. Plus he has no idea why Armour is not working.I feel somewhat better on Synthroid vs. Armour. However, I am loosing my hair like crazy. Temps have not improved, anxiety is still crazy. Have insomnia off and on. Migraines once a month. Heart issues come and go as well as difficulty breathing. If I eat/drink something sweet, my heart goes nuts. So my nightmare continues.Because of the incompetent care I have received over the years (cardiologist's wanted to put in a pacemaker, OMG). I HAVE DECIDED TO SELF-TREAT!!.That's why I am writing. My symptoms have brought me to this site. Looks like I have an RT3 issue, ratio 6.43. Not to mention my heart is taking a beating. Where do I begin? I do drink salt (Himalayan) water each morning, ½ teaspoon as well as take Synthroid 125 mg, Vit C and 65 mg Ferrous Sulfate.E-mailed Nick, he gave me the info for Cynomel, which I have ordered. Guest guest
Welcome! You have had a long hard journey. As I read your story, it makes me think of Val's story. She self treated and finally got herself well and I am sure she and Nick will help you find your way to better health, too. Guest guest
This is very silly advice but smelling into a pot of marmalade (strawberry marmalade to be precise) help me enormously to salivate
Guest guest
Hi Laurie I noticed in your labs that your calcium was high normal and vitamin D was low. I have the same pattern in a recent blood test. I just had a urine test that showed I had officially high calcium. The reason I bring this up is that it is possible that high calcium means that there is a hyperparathyroid issue, which is not to be confused with thyroid. I am just learning about this, but it can cause elevated heart rates and extreme fatigue. You can get another type of test for it. Maybe when you go back to your doc, you might mention getting a parathyroid test to rule it out, at least. I hope you feel better Liz > > Hi Terri, > > Thank you so much for your welcome and quick response to my cry for help. > > It's two in the morning, can't sleep!
