Guest guest
Thank you Deb, that is sweet of you, but I don't want you running from store to store. I live in Puerto Rico and living here has its' ups and downs. Our stores here are not like back home. So, what Mike will do is get on his laptop and search the Island and if no one carries it, he will order it online from wherever he can find it. He keeps a paypal account open for just such occasions....I'm sure he'll find it. He is a saavy computer user. Thank you and enjoy the fourth. My best to you, Dolores From: DEBBIE GIBSON <Debbullwinkle@...> Subject: rheumatic for Delores, One more thought " support group " <rheumatic > Date: Friday, July 2, 2010, 10:51 AM Delores,I read several studies a few years ago regarding diarrhea...and the physicians in the study used a specific probiotic, S. Guest guest
Dolores hi, Just want to go over all the things for leaky gut you should be using. Aloe vera gel…I use the gel in a bottle but some use capsules….glutamine which is an amino acid for the gut and recently Ethel said slippery elm. Of course acidophilis with a high count of bugs! As a nurse I know you know all about hand washing but when I had grandbaby’s I read this article about making sure to wash your hands after changing their diapers and I never thot of that. I know you take care of your mom and If you help her in the bathroom …it’s just a suggestion. Also porto rico is not known for its clean drinking water. If you wash your hands with the water you may be ingesting bacteria. Maybe try using hand wipes and see if it makes a difference. Also there are filters you can put on your shower. We have one for the chemicals in our water. You can absorb it thru the skin. How about washing your fruit and veggies. I’m sure you probably already do that but I am thinking about everything here. Sorry if I have offended. cooky From: rheumatic [mailto:rheumatic ] On Behalf Of mike rosner Sent: Friday, July 02, 2010 11:47 AM rheumatic Subject: Re: rheumatic for Delores, One more thought Thank you Deb, that is sweet of you, but I don't want you running from store to store. Guest guest
Hi Ethel, No, no, You have definitely not offended me. You bring out some very good points. In fact all of you have helped me think over so many things we do in our daily living that we often overlook even though we know them. I have not had the water supply tested in Puerto Rico, but was told that it is clean and we pay the water company for it as it comes from a government run source of purification. Said that, we still do not drink it. We use bottled water for all drinking a cooking purposes. I never thought about a filter in the shower. What you brought to my mind is that lately, I have been planting in the garden and buying soil in bags. I dig my bare hands into the soil and possibly have been transferring germs from my fingers to my mouth. Because I get the soil stuck under my fingernails, I bought some nail brushes the other day. We have an outdoor sink in the yard, which we use a lot for watering and cleaning tools and washing out garbage cans. I forgot to put a bar of soap out there and have just been rinsing my hands instead of giving them a good scrubbing like I was taught to do when working at the hospitals. Funny, how you work differently at home than you do at work. Yes, thank you for alerting me to pay more attention to the handwashing ritual. That may be one factor for the problem... Combined, I think every one's suggestion put together will hopefully end this problem for me. A million thanks for suggesting the hygienic part of this. My mom, thankfully does her own bathing and bathroom chores. My job is to cook for her, wash her clothes, clean her room and guide her when I find her standing in the middle of a room and she appears to be in a fog, not knowing which direction she was going in and what her purpose was. Alz's robs you of that cognizance. I tried to get her into a senior day care center for a few hours each day, but they said, she earned too much money on her social security check. It was a government run operation. Wish I could find one that is run by a church. Wouldn't mind paying for the services if I could find them. Yes, stress is a factor also. It is not easy taking care of an elderly relative. It is an eye opener. Makes us face our own future every day. My children and grandchildren make me happy. Got an e:mail the other day that my grandson and his new bride will be coming to visit for 9 days at Christmas. I will be looking forward to going snorkeling with them. Will need to find a sitter for mom so I can get away for a few hours. Thank you all very much. The responses have all been very informative and helpful. My best to all of you. ~~~~~Dolores  From: DEBBIE GIBSON <Debbullwinkle@... <mailto:Debbullwinkle%40fuse.net> > Subject: rheumatic for Delores, One more thought " support group " <rheumatic <mailto:rheumatic%40> > Date: Friday, July 2, 2010, 10:51 AM Delores,I read several studies a few years ago regarding diarrhea...and the physicians in the study used a specific probiotic, S.
