Guest guest
I'm a real newbie to this stuff. I've been diagnosed as a type 2 diabetic for 2-3 years, on Glucophage. Originally I lost a bunch of weight (15-20 lbs) on a low fat/high unrefined carb diet.(lots of brown rice and whole wheat) Then my dietician yelled at me, " You're not eating any meals. " I have a case about food; I like to eat. So that was NOT what I needed to hear. Gained the weight back. Did not improve. Was never bad bad, but not good either. And tiredness, cravings, thirst, floaters in eyes, numb hands and tingling feet. I started playing with a hi protein/low carb diet, and this seemed to work better. Shortly after I started that, I got a reference to WAP on talk.politics.libertarian, of all places. Checked it out. FAT?! <jaw hits floor> RAW MILK!? Veggie oil is BAD?? The science looked convincing... Read most of the articles. Went to the library last weekend and got NT (1st edition...how different is 2nd edition?) So far, I'm eating raw veggie and trying to keep carbs to the end of the day. I've gotten some free-range eggs and European-style butter and made the Mexican Steak Tartare from NT (1), also the oatmeal with buttermilk. No veggie fats. Mostly feeling great...more energy, less depressed. Still drinking coffee and using my microwave; sorry. And I really don't exercise, though I know I must. So here's what I need to do, and any suggestions would help: Kick the diabetes. Lose about 40 lbs (I'm 5'9 " and 215 currently) Improve eyesight Improve breathing (I am a wind instrumentalist/singer who has NEVER felt he has gotten enough air...often gasp like a beached fish.) I have a lot of questions about " What is really necessary " , but they'll come up bit by bit. Thank you for reading.
