Guest guest
Ok, I have 25 mcg pills and 5 mcg pills. Will cutting the 25mcg in half be too much of a reduction? How would YOU do this?VeniziaSubject: Re: another ? about my VERY high FT3To: RT3_T3 Date: Wednesday, March 10, 2010, 7:11 AM T3 does nto reduce cortiosl but it causes adrenal stress in havign to try to keep up with the high metabolism. I've found thru experimentation that simply doing a linear estimate of where your dose should be, based on current dose, works well. I've used this both with TSH (when I was on T4-only) and with FT3 while I've been on T3-only. Labs have confirmed it gets one close to the target. You should have FT3 ~= 6, but yours is 9. So multiply your current daily dose by 6/9, then break it up into 3-5 doses per day. If you're having adrenal problems, then more doses are better, but I personally find that it's hard to be on-schedule with more than 3 doses per day. The highest FT3 I ever saw in my labs was about (GULP!) 13 pg/ml. I didn't have obvious adrenal problems, but in retrospect, I was wound up too tight and losing weight. I find I'm doing well on my current dose of 62.5mcg/day. Doesn't seem to matter if I take it sublingually or swallow it. I've confirmed that I eventually go hypo if I stay on a dose of 50mcg/day. Guest guest
Hi Ed,Thanks Ed.Is this something that you read about somewhere? I am not sure I am understanding what you are saying but I am not going to stay on the dose I am currently taking which is making my ft3 9.11pgml. If I divide 100mcg, which is what I was taking by 9 that is 11 something and if I divide it by 6, it is 23 something. So, that is only 2mcg less than I am taking now. I do not see how that would make much of a difference so to reduce from 9.11 down to say, 6. I am NOT good in math and I may be totally understanding you incorrectly.Venizia >I have the Ft3 that is 900 something. You said I should reduce now instead of >waiting for my saliva results. Guest guest
Hi Val, Sorry, I have another question regarding my 9.11 Ft3. I just read on the NTH group from Darla that one should wait 14hrs before there blood draw to take thyroid meds. I did not take my cytomel the morning of the blood draw but I did take my bedtime dose which would have been around 10:30pm. My test was at 9:30am. Could this be why my numbers were so high? Because back in Oct. there were 5. something. Venizia
