Guest guest
You may want to try MSM. A lot of people over on the road back forum (including myself) have had some good success with it. Here is a thread about it: http://www.rbfbb.org/view_topic.php?id=1942 <http://www.rbfbb.org/view_topic.php?id=1942 & forum_id=1> & forum_id=1 From: rheumatic [mailto:rheumatic ] On Behalf Of casoderberg Sent: Tuesday, March 31, 2009 1:48 PM rheumatic Subject: rheumatic Newbie w/questions Thank ya'll for this great group! What a helpful resource! My husband (30yo) has Ankylosing Spondylitis. He did a few years of Enbrel (helped at first), and then tried Humira (not very helpful) before we stumbled onto AP. He's been to see Dr. Sentef, and has been on the protocol for 4+ months now. We think it might be helping? A little bit? We're grateful that he's off the humira/enbrel nastiness, and he hasn't needed his cane for awhile. However the pain is still constant. Unrelenting pain that moves around; usually the hips or back, sometimes the neck, and always an overall achiness. Can ya'll think of anything that might help while we're waiting for the AP to do its job? I saw someone mention methotrexate in an earlier post today. Is that generally helpful with AS? We have several small children, and it would be great if it didn't hurt so much for him to romp with them! An suggestions would be most welcome! Guest guest
Hi; Has your hubby tried using MSM for pain relief. My doctor puts almost all of her patients on it and large doses really seem to help some people. There is a very big thread on it's use on the Roadback site.Do a little reading up on it at www.rbfbb.org You can use the " search " up at the top and just type in MSM You don't have to join the site to read the bulletin board. Guest guest
Hey you should not or should I say your hubby should not have to endure pain. He can use Methotrexate, Cortef (which is not prednisone but cortisone and the dosage is much less.. by the way this is what I took), he can use any of the anti inflamatories on the market or even Tylenol or advil. He can take cortef with OTC anti inflams also. I am in remission and have been on AP 11 years. My story is on rheumatic.org/histories I had a hard time with pain also. Anti inflams just made my tummy hurt which is not unusual. Rheumatic.org site has a lot of little things you can also do. I know this sounds weird but I had a hair brush that vibrated and it was the best thing! For some reason it relaxed the pain receptors?? Overall achiness could also be fibromyalgia. I found the best thing for that is Malic acid at a dose 3 times higher than on the bottle. Along with MSM at a higher dose also. Soon hubby will be running with the kids!
