I've taken the tests that have >been recommended so how do I know if my receptors are cleared (or if >they were ever blocked)? Will there ever be a " happy place " ? How long have you been on T3?? The experience here is it takes about 12 weeks plus or minus a week from when you get rid of T4 in the mix to when receptors clear if you have resistance. I don't know enough of your history, what are you on and has it cleared all hypo symptoms? If you are free of hypo symptoms and on a " normal " dose of thyroid support then there isn't a problem, carry on with what you are doing. If your RT3 was a bit high but you didn't have appreciable resistance then the changes you made were enough. Those of us who have had RT3 at high levels for any length of time have resistance to thyroid hormone, this is from the blocked receptors and it takes probably 6 weeks from when the serum levels are MUCH lower than the bottom of the range for these receptors to clear. " Most people " on natural need 3 to 5 grains with it spread through the day a bit so it sounds like you are just getting into dose. If your ratio improved through getting enough T3 in the natural then you almost certainly don't have the long standing resistance that a lot of us have had. Good luck with your quest for health.
