Guest guest
Carol, my naturopaths have suspected this for years. An endocrinologist test my adrenals with a 24 hour urine output test for cortisol. My result was less than half on the scale. It seems in mainstream medicine, unless you are at either extreme, doctors assume you're fine. I don't have a lot of info from the doctor who tested me for the salivary cortisol. She is a pain specialist and my appointment with her to discuss the results is in May (I am currently recovering from 2 fractures). She was suspicious about the urine output test and wanted a 24 hour saliva test for cortisol where your level is measured 4 times during the day. I was pleased to find the test was done at a major hospital instead of some alternative lab. For now, the recommendation is to get to bed earlier (between 10 and 11 p.m.) and use a therapeutic light source before 8 a.m. for about 20-30 minutes. I've read a lot on adrenals and have learned other things, but they have not been confirmed with a doctor. What are you doing for your insufficiency? [sPAM] rheumatic OT: reversed cortisol diurnal levels? Does anyone have any experience with reversed diurnal cortisol levels? I have suspected this for a long time and finally found a doctor who tested them in a hospital lab. My levels go from low to high throughout the day with the highest being at midnight instead of the reverse. If you have been treated successfully for this, what did you do for your adrenals to correct it? Thanks,
