I'm in the middle of a blow-out yeast/candida effect. I've had nystatin for about 15 years and that, with strict diet, usually keeps it under control. But recently in a time of stress, I ate a couple of pieces of organic dark chocolate each night for about a week and am astounded at the candida symptoms that have followed. Ten days ago I asked my dr about Diflucan but he was reluctant to use it because of potential liver problems. He gave me the script but I haven't filled it because I'm worried about side effects such as nausea (I'm unable to function when I have it) and dizziness. In your experience (or anyone else's) do these lessen over time? Doc said to have 200mg for ten days and cut down on the mino. I was having 100mg every day and that did a fabulous anti-inflammatory job but am now pulsing MWF until the candida is under control. I guess I'm still drawn to trying Diflucan but can't afford the time out if I become non- functional on it (like you I have a business to run). I've seen that some people do really well on it but others have terrible side-effects. I have doubled my normal dose of nystatin and probiotics and the bowel symptoms have improved but the mouth thrush, headaches, allergy eyes and sinuses are still in full swing. Any advice or words of encouragement would be welcome from anyone. Ros
Guest guest
Hi Ros, How long ago did you last take diflucan? Did you take 200 mgms? Did you and are you to take 200mgms all at one time or 100 AM and 100PM? Did you take generic or brand? I'm thinking the problems you were having were from die off of the bugs. Pulsing may be a good idea for less symptoms. I personally believe as long as we are on antibiotics we never can get rid of the candida all we can do is control it. I would recommend after it is under control this time to take diflucan at least once a week along with your nystatin. You do realize that nystatin is for deep candida and diflucan is for the stuff on mucous membranes. So you need both to be sure. I had fungus problems way before I got rheumatoid. I took nystatin and diflucan for a year and then diflucan as needed. Since being on Minocin I have done what I just told you to do. I have done this for the past 10 years. I also take diflucan as a preventative if I have birthday cake or candy. Guest guest
Hi, I took Diflucan for fifty days (200mg) as part of the Schardt Protocol. I did not experience any problems or issues. If anyone has tried the Schardt Protocol, I am still trying to find out the dosage of the antibiotic to take after the Diflucan session. I'd asked previously but did not hear back and still have not been able to find out the dosage from other research. If anyone has tried this protocol and has this info, I'd greatly appreciate it. Guest guest
Hi Ros; I wish I had some good news for you but I am losing the yeast battle also.It just laughs at Nastatin and I am considering upping the Diflucan dose as 100mg every other day does not work either.I can't have anything made from sugar cane so that is not an issue for me.There is a person on the Roadback site that is a walking encyclopedia but she has not been around for a week or so.I have not gone to the site for a few days so once I get through reading a zillion backed up e-mails I will go to see if " A Friend " is back.If anyone knows what to do it is her.F Y I I had near liver failure when I was on Methotrexate but the Diflucan does not bother me.Maybe you can try it at a low dose and if there is no problem ramp it up.How many MG did your doc reccomend? I am almost sure that stress and always putting in 16-18 hour days is what is causing the yeast and if that is the case I could take a ton of diflucan and have no results > Hi Lynne > > I noticed that you said that you've never been able to get your > candida under control even > with Diflucan. Guest guest
Hi, All! I'm still new to the AP, but I had no trouble with yeast the first month despite taking minocin and azithromax every day. I did try to stay proactive by eating/drinking Stonybrook Farms yogurt. It has 6 active yogurt cultures, and I've found it relieved antibiotic induced symptoms in the past. Unfortunately, I am dealing with yeast now. When I got sick with strep a couple of weeks ago and added 2000mg/day of Amoxicillin to my regular antibiotics while forgetting to take my yogurt, I really messed everything up. Now, I'm trying to undo the damage. Blessings! Terri
Guest guest
I have been taking Olive Leaf Extract for almost 2 years now, and have not had a single yeast infection. I learned of it from the website or this group. (I can't remember.) Anyway, I had been taking Minocin for 7 years at that point, and had kept the yeast infections at bay with yogurt and acidopholus...but then I started having back-to-back yeast infections. I would get rid of one with Diflucan, but a few days later another one would start. I came back here to search for help, and someone told me about OLE...and as I said, I've been taking it ever since then. I take one 500 mg capsule (from GNC) once a day. Have you tried OLE? Good luck! Guest guest
I might just chime in here about fungi. I tried Diflucan and it did work, albeit it was short lived. What really got me some improvement was adding fungalin / fungizone (oral amp with 250mg of lamisil, I took these for about a year. My initial 'incurable' disease was ReA not RA. I dont have ReA no more, yet I do now have a problem with a restricted colon that was caused by an infection campylobactor that was untreated following a course of Cipro. ref the colon it's become a real problem now. Never know what's round the corner but I dont like this game much On 20 Apr 2008, at 01:04, Patrice wrote: > Ros, I take Diflucan daily without any side effects or any problems > liver > enzymes. > > _____ > > From: rheumatic [mailto:rheumatic ] > On Behalf > Of lind Gittings > Sent: Saturday, April 19, 2008 6:01 PM > rheumatic > Subject: rheumatic Diflucan for Candida > > Hi Lynne > > I noticed that you said that you've never been able to get your > candida > under control even > with Diflucan. Guest guest
Thank you Terri, I guess I am lucky in this respect, because I don't have any of these symptoms. I have taken lots of antibiotics though. We are all so chemically different and our bodies react uniquely. I have a huge problem trying to take an antidepressants. They make me very, very ill. Right now, I need something to boost my spirits. Blessings to you, **************Need a new ride? Check out the largest site for U.S. used car listings at AOL Autos. Guest guest
Hi, ! If you have thrush, you'll have white patches in your mouth that bleed -usually on your tongue. If you have a regular yeast infection, you'll have a lot of pain and itchiness in your pelvic area. I believe both of these infections are usually caused by candida. HTH! Blessings! Guest guest
Do you know that you can get these tablets free if you have a diagnosis of hypothyroidism. You just need proof (prescription for levothyroxine or T3) from your doctor. I have this information somewhere in the FILES section, probably under Candida. Luv - Sheila Just thought I'd let you all know that I just bought some Fluconazole tablets (which are the generic version of Diflucan) for £2.66 each. instead of the usual price of around £11 each for Diflucan. I bought them on line from expresschemist.co.uk , who are based in Brighton. Ordered them Sunday and they arrived today (Tuesday). Postage was 1.94 but their maximum postage charge is £2.25, however much you order. I like a bargain! . No virus found in this incoming message.
