Guest guest
A little while ago I promised an introduction. Here goes. Like many of you I have tried many different diets in search of optimum health. I've learned many things about my body and what it needs from each of these diets and use what's been valuable from each. The biggest thing I've learned is that fat is my friend! While I don't care too much for the Atkins diet or the Zone diet long-term because they don't pay any attention to the quality or preparation of the ingredients they have taught me things. I do have to say, for example, that the Zone diet got me off the " high carb is best " bandwagon and I am grateful to Barry Sears for that. And I have benefitted also from raw animal foods. I was shocked, a few years ago, when I started eating raw meat, that my constipation went away, my digestion improved, gas went away. RAF certainly has lots to offer those of us whose bodies can't handle much in the way of carbs. I like the " NT " way of eating because my body does better with protein and fat than with carbs, I appreciate the research that went into the book, and I'm fascinated with the focus on proper preparation. I do a modified version of NT. I ferment cabbage, make bone broths, eat raw meat at times, eat plenty of meat and veggies, and, overall, I pay attention to how I prepare foods for digestibility. My body doesn't do well with cow milk, even raw, even raw and kefired - it puts me to sleep in the middle of the day - so I don't do dairy. And I skip grains also due to their poor digestibility for my particular body, although, to be honest I haven't tried soaking grains. I support my position on skipping dairy and many grains since gluten and casein peptide testing has shown that my body doesn't break down those proteins well. I am aware that some gluten sensitive people do fine with properly prepared grains. I'm aware that there are digestive enzymes that help break down those proteins and have enabled many people to consume, at least grains, with no problems. I started this list a couple of years ago because I want to see Sally Fallon's work spread. Period. Whether or not I do everything the way Sally recommends it isn't important to me. This list is about bringing her work, and Weston Price's work to a larger audience so that we can all be exposed to new ideas and to take what works for us. Contrary to the belief of some, I'm not out to kill off the heated discussions on this list - more on this in another posting. While NT has helped me in a number of ways there are still some health concerns that I'm wanting to address - mainly improving my concentration and my digestion and releasing old stale emotions. There's lots of emotional and neurological stuff in my family and that's been a focus of my study. Along my healing path I've read a tremendous amount about dental problems and neurology - amalgams, cavitations, root canals, galvanization, chelation, effects on the meridians and such and have gone down the path of replacing mercury fillings, and chelating out the heavy metals. I've had ultrasounds done of my jawbone, which have exposed lots of cavitations - which are likely infected. And I'm about to try a couple of ways of healing the cavitations. I own a second list, adult-metal-chelation, where this whole dental detox issue is discussed so I won't go further into that discussion here. I would like someday to have community with nearby folks and enjoy NT potlucks. Being recently married and seriously considering a move to New Mexico, I don't have the time right now to start a physical community but if someone in the San Francisco Bay Area would like to start a community, my wife and I would be very interested in attending. If I do indeed end up in New Mexico I would like to further the work of Weston Price there. That's all for now. Happy Sunday. Sol
