jackie,

That has always been my problem...I would find something that would

maybe sooth the pain and do a little good...But I needed something

that would heal...I want this crap gone..I have had it long

enough...LOL...

By the way, I wanted to ask if you remember as a child if you were

allergic to tylenol or aspirin...Ty could never take tylenol by

mouth...I had to always keep TYLENOL sypositories in case he had

fever or pain...If I gave it to him by mouth, he would throw it

up...Did not break him out because he never kept it long enough...I

think now he takes it alright...He has never mentioned it...Just

wondering...

I do however think he is right about having this for years...and it

has laid dormant until he got into something at Basic Training that

set it off...Those pesticides that he got into at 2 years old and

caused the little red spots at the beginning and later that night

turned into what looked just like his whealts do now...Except they

were not whealts...just looked like when we used to study how two

cells would merge together...the little spots grew just like those

cells...two would grow into one big one...they had a red ring

around them and a tiny dot in the middle...and all his joints were

swollen...This still baffles me and I still keep coming back to

that episode...What do you think...

Nope, never had problems with aspirin or Tylenol. Can't take Ibuprofen, too

hard on my stomach.

The merging spots sound like typical hives, other than the middle dot...

I am not too sure about that middle dot...thats been 19 years

ago...whew...how time flies...i have a picture of him but it was a

poloroid and not too clear...it was the strangest thing i had ever

seen...started at his feet (like they came in at the bottom of his

feet) and spread up his body and left his feet...like they just

went off the top of his head...I told you this child was

weird...LOL..He's gonna love this...But it was sort of alien

looking...lol....have a good weekend...

Hi . You will need to get a prescription from your doctor for the

Gastrocrom, which is an oral med (cromolyn sodium suspension) designed

specifically for mastocytosis. It is a mast cell stabilizer, which prevents

mast cells from degranulating. The cream is a homemade recipe developed by a

nurse and a pharmacist who both have masto. You mix gastrocrom with glycerin

and body lotion or cream. If you can get your hands on the gastrocrom, I'll

be happy to send you the recipe.

Air hugs,

Jackie

,

According to people who know more about it than I do, taking oral gastrocrom

is most likely to help someone if they have gastro-intestinal involvement

(because they are more likely to have mastocytosis to begin with). The cream

should help anyone with hives. By preventing the mast cells from

degranulating, you prevent the histamine which causes the hives from being

released, not to mention all the other chemicals that come from mast cells,

like PGD2, leukotreines and heparin.

In my case, the oral gastrocrom has made a huge difference in my hives and

most of my other symptoms. I still have to watch out for my known triggers,

and if I miss a dose or don't take my other meds on time, I still break out.

In those cases, the cream takes the hives down in minutes for me.

Air hugs,

Jackie

I still am amazed about how this stuff works...We really do not

know what sets it off or what keeps it at bay...is it meds, diet,

stress, so many different combos...I am still not so sure that I do

not have somewhat of URT with my skin...I don't believe I do, but

then again, sometimes someone says something that rings a bell...I

guess we all have that tendency..and I am learning of a couple of

more in my family that have somewhat of the same stuff but just

periodically...Hopefully if we keep putring 3 and 2 together we

will come up with the answer...it may not be for us or our

children, but maybe our grandchildren..Thanks Sandy...I don't think

so much that I dreamed the foot to head thing now...Hope you find

some relief..

Hi Rita, I am so glad it is helping. Over the summer we went camping and I

had bug bites on my legs and I put some gastrocream on and it was like

heaven. I use it a lot on Livi as she is always itching and it works so

well. I really hope it helps Ty too. I think it will. Love,
