Guest guest
I am trying to do all my research so that when I do find a doctor willing to prescribe AP, I have the answers. I do have a tendency for brown spots on my skin when I am in the sun even w/o any antibiotics, so I am thinking of trying Doxycycline instead. What is chemical name of brand name Doxycycline. My insurance only will cover generics probably, (or at least I would have to pay the difference), so I wanted to look up costs, to see if its affordable. I have seen Minocyn at $1.85 per pill as well as $16.49 per pill (that was ER version, what is that? extended release maybe?) Do you need a fast release or slow release Abx for this purpose. For those of you on Doxycycline does it work as well as Mino, or should I just try the Mino with lots of Vit C? Thanks for any info Kinga
Guest guest
Kinga, Your email address ending in ca indicates that your are in Canada. If you can afford it, purchase one hundred 100 mg Minocin capsules made by Stiefel. Cost should be around $146 (US). This is the real thing, meaning that the Minocin is pelleted (or pelletized), not a generic. While $146 may seem like a high amount, the average monthly cost is only $19 if you take the Minocin on MWF as recommended by Dr. McPherson Brown, who pioneered the antibiotic protocol for RA. For pricing, please see http://www.tmgp.com/minocin.htm If you have to go with a generic minocycline, ask for the generic by . General feedback is that Minocin works better than doxycycline. Guest guest
Harald. Thanks for the info, and I will likely do this. Do most people start with only 3X per week, or is there a higher dose to kick start? This cost is not bad, and hopefully if my insurance at least covers the generic cost I can pay the difference, or pay it all if I must. I do take LDN on my own, but I am wary of doing ABX without some bloodwork. I have a list of dr.'s and so far I called 2, and I am 0 for 2 on any who actually use AP. Guest guest
Pelletized Minocin is the best drug. I was diagnosed with scleroderma in 2005, which is a terminal disease. I also had co-infections of R/A & MCTD, so I didn't have a choice. I had to do Minocin. It was do or die and I was dying. I went to Roadback.org and they recommended a specialist Rheumatologist in Boston who does A/P. I flew there. He put me on 100mg twice a day. I did that for 5 years and went into remission in my 6th year. It was a miracle for me as I had also developed Pulmonary Fibrosis and had been sick for a couple of years before that. I had been given about 6 more months to live.   Minocin saved my life. If you can't find a Rheumy to give you Minocin. Try to find an infectious disease doctor who will do the blood work to see which of the L form bacteria is attacking you. It could be more than one. We can have co-infections at the same time. An infectious disease doctor has the freedom to give the correct antibiotic to kill the specific bacterias you may be carrying. Ask for the Minocin and show your doc the FAQ sheet which explains the use of minocin for arthritic diseases. Once on Minocin, you can then take your time finding a rheumy. Some docs will jump start you with IV Clindamycin.  In my experience, most rheumy's will not help you. There are a few around the US that will do it, but they must protect themselves against the medical boards as they could be disqualified by them by using this protocol. They are ruled by Big Pharm because that is where the money is. And money is the power that fuels all of the health industry not illness. They don't make money off of well people, they would rather keep you sick and keep you on toxic meds that cost a fortune and don't work. In fact, those who take the toxic meds get worse as time goes on. Knowing this, get your blood tested and then find the doc who will give you the minocin on that basis. Dolores & Mike . > > >I am trying to do all my research so that when I do find a doctor >willing to prescribe AP, I have the answers. > >I do have a tendency for brown spots on my skin when I am in the sun >even w/o any antibiotics, so I am thinking of trying Doxycycline >instead. Guest guest
I am not at all concerned if I find a rheumy. I did go to one, but didn't want to do methotrexate or Enbrel. I haven't been back. I assume if symptoms are improving, doing X rays to see joint erosion or new bone formation is not so important. Perhaps you are right, once I am on the AP I can go back to the rheumy and get checked out. Kinga Re: rheumatic Brand name Minocin, what is chemical form Pelletized Minocin is the best drug.
