Guest guest
Hi Darla, Just from your history it looks like you have a reverse T3 problem. And looking at your labs, I can see that not only is your RT3 way over the top, your ratio is pretty bad (I *think* it's 11.6 - but someone needs to check my math). Here's a terrific little website created by one of the mods here. It will answer some of your questions and give you a running start at this: http://thyroid-rt3.com/index.htm On your next blood draw, you should ask for a ferritin test. Ferritin is necessary for your body to use T3, and should be between 70 and 90.. It might be nice to look at your B12, too. Your vitamin D is very, very low and needs to come way up (60s - 70s at least). Vitamin D3 is the supplement to take, start with at least 5,000 iu per day (someone correct me). Welcome to the forum! Put on 112 mcg Synthroid during those years, never felt better (hypo symptoms) but doctors wouldn't change anything, listen, etc. My T4 was mid-range normal, T3 low range normal during that time but still felt hypo. > > Then a couple months ago, I found a new doc. Reverse T3 is new to me so I'm still learning what I can about it. My doc is away at a seminar and my appt isn't for a couple weeks yet. Until then, I think I want to reduce or cut out the Synthroid completely until I see him and stick to compounded armour until I can talk to him about just T3 when he gets back or at my appointment. >
Guest guest
Hi, my name is . Sorry, I forgot to put that in my intro post. Darla from the Natural Thyroid group sent me here:) 11.6 is right because Darla gave me that too. Ferritin was on the lab to be tested but they didn't give me those results. I'm going to have to find out if they forgot to draw/test or they just didn't give me those results. I know it was low on a previous blood test (11.2 with a range of 6-115). I was taking Vitamin D and I really expected my D to be better on this test but it actually decreased even though I started supplementing. I'll be increasing my dose...wasn't taking enough obviously. Thanks for responding and for the welcome! I appreciate all the info. I can get. > > > > Hi. Guest guest
Hi , Goody, I got the ratio right! How long ago was that ferritin test, the one where if was 11.2? That is obscenely low. It takes a long time to get ferritin up. Again, it needs to be at least 50 before you can do much with T3, and is best between 70 and 90. Pam > > > > > > Hi. Guest guest
Free T3: 6.15 (2.32-6.09 range) > > Free T4: 1.83 (0.09-2.35 range) > > TSH: 0.3 > > Reverse T3: 53 (11-32 range) > > Saturated Iron: 24 (20-55 range) > > IBC: 353 (260-400 range) > > Iron: 85 (37-170 range) > > Vitamin D: 30 (25-80 range) Well this doctor has you over medicated on thyroid, mainly T4 so you shoudl stop the SYnthroid, and also the Natural thyroid which is MAINLY T4 and go to all T3. But with your iron labs toyou DO need iron. Even wihtout seeing your Ferriitn I can tell you need iron from thise labs. It took me going ot 10,000iu Vitamin D for a YEAR to bring my vitamin D up from 20 to 80. SO increase it up enough and it will come up a bit faster. -- Artistic Grooming- Hurricane WV http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/RT3_T3/ http://groups.yahoo.com/group/HypoPets/
Guest guest
That's what I figured as well. The doc increased the compounded armour four weeks ago from one grain/day to two/day because I wasn't feeling any difference, but it pushed me over the top (headaches, jittery, anxious). The intention was to get off Synthroid completely but he wanted to see these labs first. Now that he'll be able to see the RT3 problem, everything changes for awhile. Hopefully, he'll be back in town before we leave on vacation next week to get started on straight T3. > > Free T3: 6.15 (2.32-6.09 range) > > > Free T4: 1.83 (0.09-2.35 range) > > > TSH: 0.3 > > > Reverse T3: 53 (11-32 range) > > > Saturated Iron: 24 (20-55 range) > > > IBC: 353 (260-400 range) > > > Iron: 85 (37-170 range) > > > Vitamin D: 30 (25-80 range) > > Well this doctor has you over medicated on thyroid, mainly T4 so you shoudl stop the SYnthroid, and also the Natural thyroid which is MAINLY T4 and go to all T3. Guest guest
That ferritin was last summer. The endocrinologist who took it at the time wasn't concerned with it at all (or any of the other tests). He got fired after the first visit. He was talking about removing my thyroid before he even examined me. It took me awhile to find this new doc who agreed that last year's labs were a problem. I've just started with the new doc and I'm glad to see he's willing to see and treat things that the rest of my docs wouldn't. > > > > > > > > Hi.
