Guest guest
Hi all, On Minocycline 200 mg M-W-F, & Flagyl Tu-Th for 3 months now. Stopped taking Methotrexate (20 mg per week dose) 3 months ago also. Started taking Levaquin 3 days ago for a strep throat infection (used to get them all the time before my tonsils were removed 8 yrs ago). Lots of new onset joint pain everywhere. Is this likely a flare of my RA or a result of the Levaquin? Levaquin has a boxed warning of tendon rupture, don't want that. Need some experienced feedback here. Thanks everyone! Guest guest
I am on minocine and doxy daily. I've got sore throat twice within a month in june-july. Doctor prescribed an anti biotic for treting my sore throat. after few days of taking new antibiotic, He experinced lots of ache and joint pain. The pain went away after finishing the course of the new anti biotic. though not sure I guess you have HERX. soheila From: jeepgadget <vonda3d@...> Subject: rheumatic New joint pain with Levaquin (3 days) for strep throat, Mino/Flagyl 3 mo trx now rheumatic Date: Wednesday, September 2, 2009, 2:29 PM Hi all, On Minocycline 200 mg M-W-F, & Flagyl Tu-Th for 3 months now. Guest guest
There is a warning out re: Levaquin. On TV, they said that it causes tendons and other muscular tissues to break down. There is a number to call if you get these symptoms, but I didn't write it down. I will try to make note of it, but you should inquire with your health care provider or google Levaquin for more information. You need to check that out. It could be a herx or it could be the side effect of the Levaquin. Sorry, your doc gave you Levaquin. I had it in the hospital in 2005 for one day only when they thought I had pneumonia, but it turned out to be Pulmonary Fibrosis. Glad it was for one day only. I hope they remove it from the market as it causes a lot of damage. Look into it.
