Guest guest
HI Kristy, No it's not an allergy to acetominophen with me, And Ultram doens't have the acetominophen in it. I can take that with no problem but that Ultram sure knocked the wind out of me and what was so surprising was to find it's not that unusal with several people in my town alone, in one little office, to have had the same reaction. *sigh* BUT ....What I found out is this about Ultram....... (nothing like a little too late eh?) It's chemical name is 'Tramadol hydrochloride' and that is an ''alkaloid'' combined with hydrochloric acid as a base and 'alkaloids' are also used in Morphine & Codeine (and guess what? Those I 'am' allergic to) so it makes much more sense to me now. Quote "Even though many alkaloids are poisonous (such as strychnine or coniine), some are used in medicine as analgesics or anaesthetics, particularly morphine and codeine. Most alkaloids have a very bitter taste." And it did say in one line " ''ULTRAM is a centrally acting synthetic opioid analgesic.'' So it is related to the opioids like codeine, morphine, oxycodone, even heroin is one. If I'm in severe pain one day and really need a pain killer I may be in some deep doo doo. *sigh* and TG I'm not into drugs, LOL well 'that' kind anyway *chuckle* and as little of the other kind as I can. Ultracet, is the exact same thing as Ultram, but 'with' the acetominophen added as you mentioned hon. So if anyone's got an allergy to Codeine, or can't take Tylenol 3, Vicodin, Percocet etc., I'd be just as careful with Ultram or the Ultracet. If you're not allergic .... you're a lucky dog. Dee~ ..
