Guest guest
Is your heart rate high, too? Do you crave salt? Those are two more indicators of low aldosterone. I wasn't dizzy and my temps were still low, but I needed aldosterone. Testing is probably still best, since the treatment is a steriod. Irene > I wonder if my aldosterone is low?? > Is there some way to test for this other than labs? I guess the pupil test, right? I don't feel dizzy or anything when I stand up. In fact, I just realized that has pretty much been gone the past few months since I've been gradually increasing t3 and my BP generally rises on standing
Guest guest
Is the Florinef on the same idea of the HC, in that you can eventually wean off of it? I keep hearing that it's a powerful steroid, and just curious. I am not sure if I will need it, but it makes me nervous to be on two steroids, especially if they are for life and not temporarily. Guest guest
No need to be nervous about replacing what your body needs. Best to find out for sure whether or not you have low aldosterone to take out the worry. I've only been on the bio-identical aldosterone since last summer, so I can't say if I can get to the point of not needing it. I've craved salt since I was was small. Val knows you CAN heal adrenals, so I'd think that would include this as well. This is really a topic for the adrenal list, so if you're not a member, you might want to join. Guest guest
Thank you! I am a member, and honestly when someone else had written in about this, I thought it was the adrenal board when I added my question. Just so many emails, I must've not looked at the subject line to see which group it was. I had my aldo tested, but not salt fasting and it was 12. It was a holiday weekend and my cycles can go 2-3 months, so Val had advised to still get it done. So I had salt until 1/2pm and then not too much after that. So I am assuming it would have been higher then 12. I will re-test it in another month or so. Thanks again,Terri From: S. I. Guest guest
My heart rate is about 75 resting, not high at all. I don't crave salt. I enjoy it, but I don't crave it. The one time I tested aldosterone in 24 hour urine, it was low normal, but that was about 3 years ago. I guess I should test again. Did taking aldosterone make you feel better? Thank you. > > I wonder if my aldosterone is low?? > > Is there some way to test for this other than labs? I guess the pupil test, right? I don't feel dizzy or anything when I stand up. Guest guest
I think my aldosterone was 13, which was in range. Val says to treat anything under 14. I was unable to raise thyroid with a high pulse, so I'm grateful the aldosterone helped. I'm working on getting my thyroid right and still feel hypo. I don't break into a sweat as easily as I used to, so that's one improvement. Unstable temps on higher doses of HC can also point to needing aldosterone. Guest guest
I'm glad it's helped you. Well, I'm not sure what to do at this point except test. I think my adrenals have healed a lot. I'm only on 10 to 11.25 mg HC now and feel fine (I mean as in now low cortisol symptoms) even though I'm not at 100 t3. I had to cut due to swelling and the HC was actually causing my temps to drop, not raise, which I read from Val here can sometimes happen when you didn't need all that HC anymore. I suspect I feel crappy simply because I'm hypo still (although it's improving as I raise my dose) and the higher temps are due to highish progesterone and the fact I also have EBV antibodies so who knows where that comes into play! Thanks for replying. I appreciate it! Kathleen > > > > My heart rate is about 75 resting, not high at all. I don't crave salt. I enjoy it, but I don't crave it.
