Sonja,

This is by no means an exhaustive list, however these are all

reasonably good indicators of poor carb handling (and obviously other

possible related problems too).

-Eat when nervous

-Excessive appetite

-Hungry between meals

-Irritable before meals

-Lightheaded if meals delayed

-Heart palpitates if meals missed or delayed

-Afternoon headaches

-Excessive negative response to overeating sweets

-Awaken after few hours sleep - hard to get back to sleep

-Crave candy/coffee in afternoon

-Depression, Moody, Melancholy

-Fatigue that is releived by eating

Supposedly you can get a glucose tolerance test to quantify this, but

I don't know much about them. If you think you have a carb impaired

metabolism, you may want to look into it.
