Hi Val or anyone else that might have an answer. I have been taking cytomel

since last spring and I just had a liver panel done and my numbers have gone

from 134 for alk phos to 209. Does ANYONE know if cytomel can be a problem for

the liver????

I am wondering with my T3 level at 901 if this might be why my liver numbers are higher than they should be. Thanks I will look into this link. Also, would it be ok for me to stop the cytomel for a day to get that 901 down quicker or will I have anxiety or something?VeniziaSubject: Re: cytomel and liver issues? To: RT3_T3 Date: Friday, March 19, 2010, 5:15 AM

T3 is VERY helpful for the liver. It helps regenerate it.

For T3 to help the liver it has ot be able to GET there,. Rt3 low

ferritin and low cortisol all prevent this. I htink you would be very

safe to stop it for a day but it is better and safer to just reduce it

drastically for a week or maybe two.

Ok thanks Val. I have reduced it now for a week by 25mcg when I was taking 100mcg a day. My ferritin also went a lot higher, I think that was 203. Makes me think something is going on and it is a lttle scary.VenziaSubject: Re: cytomel and liver issues? To: RT3_T3 Date: Friday, March 19, 2010, 7:32 AM

High T3 CAN cause high Ferritin just as low thyroid causes us to lose iron.
