Guest guest
I thought that was LOW cortisol!?!??!!?!? I would think more HC is better than too little HC, to get T3 into the cells. Can high cortisol prevent t3 only from being used properly? Guest guest
Do you feel better when you go down on the HC, aside from being hypo? Or do you get low cortisol symptoms? Liz W

Guest guest
I suppose a little high is better than a little low for utilizing T3. Problem is, high and low symptoms are a lot alike so it's easy to go too high thinking it's too low. I have been on some type of cortisol(HC, medrol, dex) for 2 years. I've been Dx with hypopituitary and assumed I would need this stuff forever. In November, I started to get anxiety, swollen, red, itchy, extreme fatigue, constant tremor, skin felt like it was burning, etc. I think I had high cortisol for months and assumed low cortisol. Stress dosing didn't help, if anything made it worse. Lowering each dose of HC hasn't seemed to be a problem. My worst low cortisol symptom was anxiety and panic(wired and tired) for years at bedtime and couldn't sleep to save my life, then I would wake feeling awful and had to get up and take care of 3 kids. I have felt less brain fogged and less spacey since decreasing. I still feel hypo and need more t3, just can't lower HC and up t3 at the same time. But, like I said earlier, florinef is a steroid too and contains up to 10mg cortisol per pill. Guest guest
Oh, I didn't mean high cortisol was better than low. I was just curious if you actually felt like it was helping to lower the HC, which it sounds like it is. I wonder if at some point on HC therapy the body just has a switch that flips and decides it has enough cortisol or something. I might be in a similar situation to yours, because I am starting to have high cort symptoms, but I am still hypo. I hope I can lower the HC, because I am starting to gain weight, etc. Are your temps stable? Guest guest
I've been lowering since November and almost off HC, still on florinef. I still feel hypo, I thought I would tough it out, get unhypo, and then reduce HC but high cortisol makes you feel crappy so not a good idea. One of the reasons why I thought my cortisol was still too low was because temps always dropped from my morning temp. I used to have temps in the 96's all the time. I have had a temp as low as 93 and turned blue. My temps have been 94 at the doctor's office, who wouldn't help me BTW. Right now I am pretty stable at 98.2 but still feel as hypo as 96's--but again maybe it's the high cortisol feeling and that will resolve. I still need more t3 though. Taking temps has driven me crazy! There are too many things that can affect temps. However, when I cleared Rt3, my temps were 99-100 all during the day for a few days.
