Guest guest
Hi Margo If you haven't already used the search facility on this board and at the Roadback Foundation, there are a lot of stories and emails from people who've been successful with treating lupus with antibiotics. Some of them seem to say start very slowly (25 or 50 mg mino 3 times a week) and some have used doxycycline. Here's the address of the roadback bulletin board: http://www.rbfbb.org/ In the General Discussion area there is a subject which will take you to many many emails from people as well: OLD RBF Bulletin Board Archives & Update Just enter " lupus " in the little search window at the top of the new board or the old board. It will take a while to read all the emails. I quickly just looked for those with lupus in the subject matter. Good luck, Ros
Guest guest
Hi, Margo! I have had Psoriatic for 13 years (used to use sulfasalazine and motrin between pregnancies). Two years ago, I officially added RA and fibro to my diagnosis. I limped along on Effexor(antidepressant for fibro to boost serotonin) and Feldene(NSAID). All disease modifiers seemed too risky for me as I was unwilling to use birth control for religious reasons. I was steadily going down hill until I heard about the AP from a friend. Miraculously, we found a local doc (a pulmonologist) who has done AP on the side for about 12 years after seeing patients with pneumonia and RA being helped by antibiotics. Anyway, he doesn't pull punches, and started me out with 200mg of minocin and 250 mg of azithromycin daily. I felt great almost right away for a week. Then, I had a miserable herx reaction for a month. A couple more weeks of slow improvement, and suddenly, I don't feel like I have RA anymore! I still have some joints that are damaged, but the pain and inflammation is almost totally gone. Plus, I just had my gallbladder out on Wednesday. I only used a narcotic for a few hours immediately after surgery. Since then, I've only used my regular feldene. Usually a surgery will cause me to flare up, but I feel great! I just wanted to encourage you since I hadn't seen anyone else with Ps reply. Blessings! Terri
