Guest guest
Hi Kim, I don't know the answer to your HC problem, but I've been having the same energy problem for the past couple of days. I've been on SR T3 for a month with no difficulty, but I switched to regular T3 on Sunday, and my problems started the next day. I've felt so drained and exhausted that I really haven't been able to do anything much. I have very low ferritin, 25.7. I started at 15 a month ago, and although I've taken as much iron as I can tolerate for the past month, I've raised it only 10 points. So I've scheduled a consult to discuss iron IV's next week. Several people here wrote me that their ferritin level increased dramatically with only a few IV's, so it definitely seems worth trying. My doctor told me he sends patients to the local infusion center for iron IV's. I called there and they do them routinely, though you need a doctor's order. My doctor is out of town and they can't accept his order, so they gave me the name of a local hematologist. I called his office and they're having my doctor fax them my test results before my appointment. The infusion center is in the hospital, so if you look up your local hospital, you should be able to get the phone number. By doing it this way my insurance should cover 90% of it, which is a big help. Peggy Adrenal and Iron problems. I have 2 problems. 2. As I increase my T3 I am feeling weaker and weaker. I am beggining to feel like I can't even squeeze my hands into fist, sometimes, because I
Guest guest
Hi. Do you think it can be iron related? I was weak like this, couldnt make fists.. arms and hands were really weak. I had been eating much magnesium for a while and when i stopped mag and started on iron i got much better. I dont know if this is your problem but thought i should say. > > I have 2 problems. > > 1. starting on day 2-4 after an increase of T-3, I am only increasing by 6mcg, I have a late morning-early afternoon temp slump. I have stable temps before the increase and then on those days my temps drop, leading to low averages. After about day 4 or 5 my temps come back up and are stable again. I was not on any thyroid meds at all when I started my adrenal support (Isocort - and soon I will be starting HC) so I am thinking that the level of Cortisol support that worked for me without T3 just isn't enough when adding and adjusting t3. So my question is should I increase my cortisol to support that temp slump I am getting? Hope that makes sense. > > 2. As I increase my T3 I am feeling weaker and weaker. I am beggining to feel like I can't even squeeze my hands into fist, sometimes, because I feel so weak. Does this sound like a low ferritin problem? My doc. is open to Iron IV (I will be checking my ferritin levles later this week.) if my levels come back low enough. Where do I look to get my iron IV, my doc lives in another state and I don't know where to get the IV at. > > Thanks >
Guest guest
>So my question is should I increase my cortisol to support that temp slump I am getting? Hope that makes sense. Sounds like you don't have enough adrenal support to cope with the increased levels of T3. If you are spreading the T3 out through the day then you probably need to increase the adrenal support until temperatures stabilize again. If you were only taking the T3 in 2 or 3 doses through the day then spreading it more thinly may help Nick -- for more information on RT3 and Thyroid Resistance go to www.thyroid-rt3.com
