>>>What is the differance between a grazer and browser? I love all the

farm info I get on this list :) What would you call what pastured

chickens do?

***,

I think of the difference in terms of height - grazers graze on grass,

weeds, etc, which is ground cover. Browsers are IE or Netscape. (OK,

couldn't resist a stupid joke!) Being serious now - browsers browse on

shrubs, bushes, leaves and bark - things that are *higher* off the ground

than ground cover.

Anyway, that's my understanding of the difference.

Grazers eat grasses and other plants from the ground. Browsers like things off

the ground like tree leaves and bushes. Sheep and cattle tend to be grazers and

goats would, if given the chance, much rather browse. I think chickens would be

grazers since they eat off the ground.
