Guest guest
Hi My sisters ratio was 7.5 before she started t3 only her reverse t3 level was over 600. In 2 weeks her ratio was 34 and reverse t3 went to 200. Your ratio is the first thing to get better so it is not unusual to see what has happened to your results. It still takes 12 weeks for the t3 to get to cells. So even though my sisters ratio was good her temps and pulse were still low. Your t3 is still low also. Are you feeling any better? I would stick to t3 only at the moment and see how you go. Val says its not important to test reverse t3 when trying to clear. Becuase it is always going to look good. We are looking for pulse and temps to be good. Getting our t3 high and seeing how you go on t3 for a minimum of 12 weeks. Sky To: RT3_T3 Sent: Fri, 5 March, 2010 8:52:35 AMSubject: Now I'm confused - RT3 or conversion issues? After 1 week of starting T3 treatment, I have the following labs for Free T3 and Reverse T3:Free T3: 3.6 Reference: 2.3 - 4.2Reverse T3: 163 Reference: 90 - 350So, to calculate the ratio, would this be correct: (3.6 x 1000)/163 = 22.1?This, to me, is not indicating a reverse T3 issue - however, I don't have a reverse T3 lab to show prior to starting treatment, as no doc had ever tested me for it before. My Free T4 and Free T3 lab 3 weeks ago did, however, indicate a conversion issue (see labs at the bottom of this post). So, my questions are:1) is it likely I have a RT3 issue, knowing the above labs were after just one week of T3-only treatment2) am I still in the right place with this group and in treating with T3-only if I don't have an RT3 issue but rather have a conversion issue? These can be separate issues that still require the use of T3-only, correct? Please view my labs below. The labs below I had done 2 weeks prior to beginning T3 treatment and 3 weeks prior to the labs above. Note: I've never felt well on T4-only treatment - the labs below reflect being on no medication for 2 months.3 weeks prior to these labs, I'd shown these:TSH - 6.2 (0.5 - 3.0)Free T4 - 1 (0.7 - 2.5)Free T3 - 2.4 (2.5 - 6.5)TPO Blood Spot - 12 (0 - 150) (70 - 150 borderline)Thoughts on the above?? Guest guest
A week of T3 only can change the BLOOD valuses alot and I htnk thta may be what has happened btu I do nto see an indication of RT3 in your prior to meds labs either. 22.1 is not a really great ratio. most of us on T3only cna end up in the 50's or higher . I use 20 as a bare miimum for ft3/rt3 ratio, and it is BARE minimum. -- Artistic Grooming- Hurricane WV http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/RT3_T3/ http://groups.yahoo.com/group/HypoPets/
Guest guest
Thanks, Sky - that is very interesting about your sister's results. And, therefore, seems possible that I could have an RT3 issue. In any case, the lab notes (from my original labs) indicated a T4/T3 conversion issue, so going the T3-only route seems to be the best approach either way. I haven't been feeling that great - there have been moments of my old " self " - certain smells coming back, or improved moods. Overall, my hands and feet aren't quite as frigid, but still cold. My temp, at the time of the latest test was still low - around 98.0. I feel, as a few other posters have felt - as if I'm " chasing down " my T4 and usually feel a bit better the 3rd day after upping a dose, but that my body is craving more. I'm only currently at 30 mcg in 5 doses daily, this being the end of my second week. It is also a cellulose-based T3 (so may be hindering absorption); I'll be switching that in the next few days. Also - I found out today I have low B-12. Seems like that will complicate how I'm doing until I can get that optimal, in addition to T3. Aside from the B-12 issue (acknowledging it's a crucial one), how would one expect to feel 2 weeks in to the T3 protocol at 30 mcg? Thanks again, Alixe > > Hi > > My sisters ratio was 7.5 before she started t3 only her reverse t3 level was over 600. In 2 weeks her ratio was 34 and reverse t3 went to 200. Guest guest
By your saying you " do not see an indication of RT3 in my prior meds labs " did you mean that you didn't see an RT3 reading (which no, I did not have done) or did you mean that based on the TSH, Free T3 and Free T4 results I did have done that it didn't seem to indicate an RT3 issue? Thanks, Val!
