Guest guest
Margery, Hopefully you'll get some other help. Just a couple of comments: Based on my experience, please get more than your ferritin level, at least add in the iron saturation. This is in case your ferritin is elevated from inflammation. I've been dealing with the horrible fatigue but after my first iron IV yesterday there is major improvement. My ferritin didn't look too bad but iron panel showed a problem. I wish I had done the iron panel much earlier. Your serum potassium is quite low, is this on the current dose of K? Vitamin D is still low. Something seems to be blocking the T3 and cell metabolism. I've noticed that some people feel hypo on too much T3 and too much HC. Have you tried cutting back? One other thing, has anyone checked your reflexes? This is a very good test of thyroid levels according to my doctor. In fact, yesterday he told me my reflexes show that my thyroid is a little high--and that also connects with what Val told me--that I probably need to drop it a little. Guest guest
Thank you, Sherry, for your reply. Yes, something sure is blocking the T3. With this much Free T3 my pulse and temps should be through the roof. They are not.I had 2 iron IVs in January, so I hope the ferritin is accurate. I will test again. I will also get the iron saturation test you suggested. Will be off all iron 5 days prior to tests.I have doubled my dose of potassium to 3,000 mg/day. Will test electrolytes again in 2 weeks.I am continuing to raise my Vitamin D, it is slow but it IS going up. Taking 10,000 IU a day. Tried intramuscular injections but had a bad reaction.I tried cutting back on HC a few weeks ago. As a result got my old 3:00 AM cortisol crash, adrenalin, high pulse, etc., so I suspect I may be closer to low cortisol than high. I have also tested high for Cortisol Binding Globulin, so I do not know how much of the HC I take gets utilized effectively vs. getting bound into an inactive form. (I wish I could test for this, but I understand that all existing cortisol tests are inaccurate while on HC.)I have never had my reflexes tested (not in the last 40 years, anyway). I do not know anything about this and would very much like to get these tested. My Dr. opposes T3-only treatment, does "not believe" in RT3, and has never tested my reflexes, so yes, she is worse than useless. Can any regular doctor check reflexes? Or is there a specialist?Thank you very much, again for your reply. PS I also probably have potassium wasting, and read with interest your post earlier today on that subject. I have been tested for heavy metals and no help there. So I am trying both sustained-release and transdermal magnesium for this problem. "it is magnesium that controls the fate of potassium", from:http://www.krispin.com/magnes.html--- In RT3_T3 , "scdlymie" wrote:>> Margery,> > Hopefully you'll get some other help. Ferritin, Vit D, b12 all up, RT3 has been gone since January. Resistance still by the looks of it. From the 10th Jan it's only about 10 weeks, hang in there, it takes generally 11 tto 13 weeks to clear the RT3 from the receptors. While receptors are still blocked you will be hypo on an " in range " FT3. If you are not hyper on your 150 you can stay there, just be ready to drop when resistance clears. Guest guest
Nick, I've been on T3 only for 22 weeks (since Oct. 1). Is it possible my receptors are still not clear? Has anybody else's clearing taken this long? Thank you. > > >Test taken day before yesterday. Had test first thing in AM, did not take any T3 than morning. Guest guest
Nick,I am confused by your response to Margery. With a ft3 at 7.5 couldn't she be feeling this way because she is hyperthyroid? With the number this high, as mine was, (9.1) could not this be adrenal because the high T3 is using up the the adrenals? Trying to figure this out for myself, not really disputing your comment.VeniziaSubject: Re: Never had these labs before...HIGH Free T3...7.5, range 2.0 - 4.4To: RT3_T3 Date: Wednesday, March 24, 2010, 9:14 AM Nick, thanks for your answer. Re-reading my post, I see I was unclear about my T-3 only start date: it was October 1, 2009. > > >Test taken day before yesterday. Had test first thing in AM, did not take any T3 than morning. Guest guest
Hi Venizia: In these last two days I increased Cortef from 35 mg/day to 50 mg/day and feel a lot better. Based on this, I think you are really on to something with the high T3/adrenal angle. I have lowered my Cynomel dose from 150 down to 125 for now. I know I want to keep my free T3 in the top end or slightly over range, but I feel I was too far over. Since I've been on T3 only for something like 20 weeks, I think the receptors have to be cleared, now I have to look for what else is going on. I don't know what to expect next. (Will I need less Cortef as my T3 goes down?) I am reading a lot on the adrenals group looking for info but have not yet succeeded in locating anything addressing this specific issue. Thank you very much for your post, it is VERY helpful to hear from someone who has had the same issues. > > > > > > >Test taken day before yesterday.
