Guest guest
Hi , Please place the Introduction to EFAs that I am e-mailing to you on the CHERAB Web site at http://www.apraxia.cc and you will get the differences between the flax seed oil and the others and many more issues in a more or less organized fashion. I would be delighted to hear from all on this group list whether they understood the presentation or whether they still have questions. I think all those who access the group list should understand what EFAs are from a reliable source. Instead of people puting in their 5 and 10 cents to create a picture we can spend the effort on compiling with everybody's input, a presentation that is understood by all. Liz, I read that too in " Know Your Fats; " however, I can't find anywhere in her book why LNA would be essential if one consumed adequate EPA, DHA, etc. from animal sources. She never indicates the usefulness of LNA other than conversion to these elongated omega-3's (which are used for prostaglandin synthesis). She only says that LA and LNA, along with their elongated forms, are constituents of cell membranes. Also, 's post (6942) indicated that consumption of saturated fat enhances " absorption " of EPA and DHA (Lawson, , 1988). Interestingly, in Enig's book, it is stated that conversion of LNA to EPA and DHA is assisted by consumption of saturated fat.
