Guest guest
Tish, I'm haveing trouble getting to www.vitaminmd.com/isocort.htm This is odd. It may be my isp, but somelse was having trouble yesterday. Is this where you get yours? Can you check out the link? Debbie K. Re: Cortef question I had terrible upset sromach from Cortef. I have had the best luck with the IsoCort. I disolve mine under my tongue and this helps and might be why I have had less trouble with it. It is bitter, but I have come to like it, sort of like an old timy bitter. It is supposed to be better if you take the Cortef with meals or just before, but, I still had problems. Guest guest
Yes, that was me and both of mine are reacting today. My grandson from Florida was in town last week and handed me a cold or some such thing. I'm terrified it is going to head for my lungs. I've never fully covered from the reactive airway disease from earlier this summer. I m terrified for my kids to go back to school and start dragging home all of the nasty stuff that goes around in the schools. I'm getting phobic about this (not good for the adrenals). I have a step-daughter that is physically killing me. Every time I talk to her it takes every once of adrenaline that I have to NOT tell her exactly what I think about her life, and she asks me to which makes it even harder. She is killing me. I spoke with her last night and I think that is why I'm feeling so crappy today. It is so hard to have that hydrocortisone sitting on the counter downstairs and not be able to take it. I really feel it is the answer to my prayers, but my cortisol test kit has to wait until 8/18/2004. This is making me nutty. I'm still sitting at 2.5 grains Armour a day and I believe this isn't quite enough. I find that I'm having some joint pain. Did I hear some of you talking about joint pain when under medicated with Armour? Both heels and right shoulder are very painful. Guest guest
My top doc called it reactive airway disease. Made sense to me. Guest guest
I wish there that many hrs in a day. However, I'd probably be sleeping some of them, hehe. Re: Cortef question > I know! Guest guest
HI, Cindi, When I took it, I took it every 4 hours. I took 10 mg. in the morning and then 5 and 5. Some take the last 5 at bedtime. But if it keeps you awake take it earlier. Make sure you eat something with it. in Va. why were you taking it to begin with and what were your free t3 and 4 and ferritin levels before? Re: Cortef question I had to stop my 5 mg. of Delta a few weeks ago because of EXTREME stomach cramping in the afternoon/evening. It actually started about 3 weeks after starting the Delta and I endured it for an additional 3 weeks for realizing it was probably the Delta. Once I stopped the Delta, the problems stopped. Has anyone else had digestive problems because of Delta? Anyway, I really feel like I need the adrenal support and want to give the Cortef a try. Can someone tell me the dosing again? I think it's 20 mg a day...but if you're taking it every 8 hours...when do you get the extra 5 mg. in? Thanks, Cindi [Non-
Guest guest
Hi, , Anyone taking Prilosec or Prevacid, keep an eye on your B12. Way back when I found out I had low B12, doing research, I found out that these meds can cause a condition that causes malabsorption of B12. I can't remember the name of it now. Sorry. in Va. Cindi, I happen to be one of the lucky ones who has a good doctor. When I started having stomach problems with the hydrocortisone (and with a history of ulcers), he suggested Omeprazole (Prilosec), so that's what I take, once a day. My G.I. doctor agreed it would help protect my stomach, because hydrocortisone can irritate it. Jefferies suggests taking an antacid at the same time (I guess like Tums? But then wouldn't the calcium interefere with the thyroid absorption?) but I don't know if that would be strong enough. It's tough -- take yet another pill, just so I can take another pill? But if it's all going to help then I'm willing ... PS What CAN we call that weird lung soreness thing (lol)? It's irritating! ~
Guest guest
HI, Jen, Have you tried echinachea to build up your resistance? Boost your immune system. Guest guest
Hi, Cindi: Sorry about the delay, it was a hectic weekend and no chance to check my thyroid forums! But yes, in answer to your question, prilosec is OTC now. I think Omeprazole is the generic brand. After a few weeks it seems to be helping. I'm not having severe pain in my esophagus and upper stomach the way I was before. Maybe it would work for you too? Let me know what you decide to do and if it helps! > In a message dated 8/13/2004 4:30:16 PM Eastern Standard Time, > nweller@u... writes: > > > When I > > started having stomach problems with the hydrocortisone (and with a > > history of ulcers), he suggested Omeprazole (Prilosec), so that's > > what I take, once a day. > > Well this is sorta interesting to think about. Guest guest
Thank , Good to know! I'm on extra B12 right now, so I guess that's good ... > Hi, , > Anyone taking Prilosec or Prevacid, keep an eye on your B12. Guest guest
>>when raising my cortef the docs also dropped my thyroid from 7.5 to 5 twice daily. I was feeling alot of anxioty and stress. was this a good thing to back off the cytomal alittle?<< It would help the anxiety but also explains why you felt more tired. -- Artistic Grooming- Hurricane WV http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/
