Hi Kim,

I started treatment in June of 08.  I was on clindimycin IV daily for 2 or 3

weeks and then started taking Minocycline (generic).  I initially had all of the

symptoms that you are experiencing and ended up in the hospital twice because

the " herxes " (not sure how to spell herxes...sorry) were so severe.  I had to

have round the clock care for several months because I could do very little for

myself and the pain was almost unbearable even though I was taking hydrocodone,

soma, and morphine around the clock.

My friends (caregivers) began taking me into town for acupuncture for pain

relief and it helped.  I went into the Dr.s office using a walker and 3 visits

later...no walker.  I was still in alot of pain but I was making positive

progress.

Just recently my doctor changed my antibiotic from minocycline (generic) to

minocyn (brand) and I think I am making great strides towards my recovery.  The

cost of the medicine is quite different.  The generic brand was under $100

(can't remember exactly how much it cost) and the brand minocyn in $600 a

month...I take 2 a day.

I am saying all of this just to let you know that sometimes some of us

experience some awful things in the beginning but hang in there Kim...it will

get better.  I wish you well and I will keep you in my prayers.

Wishing you good health,

Leah Royer
