Guest guest
Hi Kitty I do have RT3 so I am on cytomel, 85 mcg. I want to wait to get my high heart rate settled before I increase. I had been on cytomel 25 mcg for years (prescribed for depression, actually), and my new doc switched me to naturethroid, then I got RT3 issues, now I require much higher doses of T3. Go figure! I want to try a small dose of naturethroid with the cytomel to see if I can tolerate it. My temps have never really gotten totally stable on HC, even at 55 mg, hence the florinef. My temps are already sort of low, too, even if I do not feel necessarily hypo. I am on some other meds that may lower my temps. I have raynaud's and noticed that when the florinef was wearing off the raynaud's started coming on. My serum aldosterone was around 11 or 12, I think, so not terrible low like yours. I have read that florinef makes your body produce less of its own aldosterone. Do you think this is true? Is it bad to take it long term? How much cytomel are you on? Why do you think you got RT3? Did you start HC around the time the RT3 came on? Liz > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > weak adrenals just don't produce enough of it. The cortex of the adrenals make aldosterone. Guest guest
Hi Liz, We found RT3 issues by blood tests. I had my thyroid out from hashimoto's in 2007 <so sad now that I know it could have been fixed....> and never have been able to get optimized on my meds. I have always had issues with my ferritin, at one point it was TWO, and my cortisol levels are horrible. I actually have all the symptoms of 's. So the low ferritin and low cortisol made me really curious about RT3 since they both cause it. I wouldn't add in naturethroid now until you are certain you are clear of the RT3, any T4 will cause more RT3. I am taking 45mg of HC, my temps are stable-ish but slowly getting lower. I starting having Reynaud's attacks this winter Hands turning dusky blue or beat red... no cold tolerance. Birrdyy thinks it is connected with hypothyroid.... I guess it would also have to do with sodium levels hence the florinef helping. My hands have been warm more than cold lately so thats good I would assume any steroid or hormone you take will suppress the corresponding hormone. I don't know if it is bad long term but I'm not concerned about it right now. I am up to 37.5mcg of cytomel right now. I just switched to the T3 last week from thyroid-s 1 1/2 grains and 12.5mcg cytomel. My adrenals are pretty much unresponsive and we have some questions regarding my iron so I have to increase really slowly to prevent any issues. I think the potassium will make your heart feel much better. Mine isn't pounding at all now and it felt really bad before. I think I have always had an RT3 issue actually, just no doc ever looked for it and I didn't know. I ordered the tests myself... I had been on synthroid, synthroid and cytomel, armour, thyroid-s, thyroid-s and cytomel and now back to just cytomel Hopefully it will work out with me being on the HC and I can finally feel good again! Guest guest
Hi Kitty My RT3 is actually below range now, which is good. It definitely cleared. I wish I could tolerate T4. I want my body to regulate itself. I am so sorry to hear about the ferritin issues. Have you gotten the numbers up? Oh, one other thing about florinef. How do we know that the headaches are ffrom the florinef wearing off or from the florinef itself? Thanks for all of your help! Liz
Guest guest
Have you tried to take the T4 meds then? I think you have to add them in REALLY slowly... I just got my ferritin tested and it is still only 21 but my other levels came back higher, the iron, TBIC, and saturation. I am hoping it was from taking molasses so I retested yesterday, am just waiting for the results. If the numbers were off from the molasses then I can take supplements. If that isn't the case I'm not sure what I will do. Florinef headaches.. never got one from the florinef. I would think if it is from the florinef you would get a headache shortly after taking it. If it is from the florinef wearing off it would start many hours after you took it. Guest guest
Molasses and other iron supplements cause false HIGH ferritin readings, not false low. You need more than molasses if you are to get well as that is simply not enough iron to raise it. -- http://nthadrenalsweb.org/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/ http://faqhelp.webs.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/RT3_T3/ http://www.thyroid-rt3.com/ http://groups.yahoo.com/group/HypoPets/ http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/
