Guest guest
Your FT3/RT3 ratio is 6.0 - yikes! Hopefully Val or someone else can help you with the cortisol issue. You might want to post those results to give a complete picture. ka > > None of the doctor's here in Austin seem to totally understand reverse T3 syndrome, but one has read about it and is willing to work on it with me; I am giving her info from Nick's site. > > I thought I had reverseT3 syndrome cause my rT3 is high, but not sure about the ratio > Can someone help me understand this ratio (before my appt tomorrow/Monday 1 pm Central?): It doesn't fit the " ratio over 20 " rule but the units are off: > > Note that my cortisol is extremely high (4x saliva test) and I am under incredible stress: > > February test results > Free T3 265 (ref 230-420 pg/dl) > Rev T3 44 HIGH (ref 11-32 ng/dl) > > Does this look like Reverse T3 syndrome? > > I am on 12.5 mg of cytomel, was supposed to go up to 25 but that caused me complete insomnia til 7 am (I do take it in the morning), so doc said to back done to 12.5 until we retest free and reverse (tomorrow) and reevaluate. > > Thanks and sorry for the short notice, I am very sick with adrenals, thyroid, anxiety, depression and panic attacks. Guest guest
Thank you so much fir your response. I've posted the cortisol angd gotten Vals response before, so I'll wait till after my appt to post my new t3/rt3 and cortisol results. In the meantime, do you really need to increase to such a high dose as Nicks site says? I can't even tolerate 25 mg, and if I take the12.5 mg cytomel too late (past 9 am) it gives my terrible insomnia )despite being on trazadone and melatonin and seriphos), but I don't wake up by 9 usually (my sleep rhythm is off. ) s friend takes her cytomel kn the middle of ghf night when she wakes up to pee. Does that work or Woolf ig cause insomnia for the 2nc half of the night? > > > > None of the doctor's here in Austin seem to totally understand reverse T3 syndrome, but one has read about it and is willing to work on it with me; I am giving her info from Nick's site. > > > > I thought I had reverseT3 syndrome cause my rT3 is high, but not sure about the ratio > > Can someone help me understand this ratio (before my appt tomorrow/Monday 1 pm Central?): It doesn't fit the " ratio over 20 " rule but the units are off: > > > > Note that my cortisol is extremely high (4x saliva test) and I am under incredible stress: > > > > February test results > > Free T3 265 (ref 230-420 pg/dl) > > Rev T3 44 HIGH (ref 11-32 ng/dl) > > > > Does this look like Reverse T3 syndrome? > > > > I am on 12.5 mg of cytomel, was supposed to go up to 25 but that caused me complete insomnia til 7 am (I do take it in the morning), so doc said to back done to 12.5 until we retest free and reverse (tomorrow) and reevaluate. > > > > Thanks and sorry for the short notice, I am very sick with adrenals, thyroid, anxiety, depression and panic attacks. Guest guest
Nina, Have you had ferritin and Vitamin D checked? They can cause problems tolerating T3. Are you taking the 12.5mgs all at once? That can cause a peak then crash in energy. A 25mg pill can split into 6.25mgs. You could try 6.25mg 9am and 6.25mg around 3pm and see if that works better. Hope this helps, Jennie > > > > > > None of the doctor's here in Austin seem to totally understand reverse T3 syndrome, but one has read about it and is willing to work on it with me; I am giving her info from Nick's site. > > > > > > I thought I had reverseT3 syndrome cause my rT3 is high, but not sure about the ratio > > > Can someone help me understand this ratio (before my appt tomorrow/Monday 1 pm Central?): It doesn't fit the " ratio over 20 " rule but the units are off: > > > > > > Note that my cortisol is extremely high (4x saliva test) and I am under incredible stress: > > > > > > February test results > > > Free T3 265 (ref 230-420 pg/dl) > > > Rev T3 44 HIGH (ref 11-32 ng/dl) > > > > > > Does this look like Reverse T3 syndrome? > > > > > > I am on 12.5 mg of cytomel, was supposed to go up to 25 but that caused me complete insomnia til 7 am (I do take it in the morning), so doc said to back done to 12.5 until we retest free and reverse (tomorrow) and reevaluate. > > > > > > Thanks and sorry for the short notice, I am very sick with adrenals, thyroid, anxiety, depression and panic attacks. Guest guest
Thanks so much Jennie and ka, Great tip, but I'm still afraid of terrible (all night) insommia if I take it past 10 am. I've been supplementing with D3 for a while and a at top of range. Ferritin was 52 but having it rechecked this week. But cant tolerate iron (and not good for people with CFS due to promoting gut bugs), so I take lactoferrin What do you mean by problems " tolerating " T3 - tolerating in what way /symptoms? Also, Im sorry Im not able to read the archive. Can someone tell me if I need a merc thermometer? I got rid of all mine as beleive I am mercury toxic plus I have young kids in house which adds to breakage potential. But I notice my 3 digitals are not always consistant with one another, Are there certain brands of reliable digitals? I've lost my insurance and husband is unemployed so tomorrow will be the last time for a while that I can do lab work for thyrois. I will have to rely on temp. Do I increase based on temps? I can't imagine going up to 100 mg and greater. > > > > > > > > None of the doctor's here in Austin seem to totally understand reverse T3 syndrome, but one has read about it and is willing to work on it with me; I am giving her info from Nick's site. > > > > > > > > I thought I had reverseT3 syndrome cause my rT3 is high, but not sure about the ratio > > > > Can someone help me understand this ratio (before my appt tomorrow/Monday 1 pm Central?): It doesn't fit the " ratio over 20 " rule but the units are off: > > > > > > > > Note that my cortisol is extremely high (4x saliva test) and I am under incredible stress: > > > > > > > > February test results > > > > Free T3 265 (ref 230-420 pg/dl) > > > > Rev T3 44 HIGH (ref 11-32 ng/dl) > > > > > > > > Does this look like Reverse T3 syndrome? > > > > > > > > I am on 12.5 mg of cytomel, was supposed to go up to 25 but that caused me complete insomnia til 7 am (I do take it in the morning), so doc said to back done to 12.5 until we retest free and reverse (tomorrow) and reevaluate. > > > > > > > > Thanks and sorry for the short notice, I am very sick with adrenals, thyroid, anxiety, depression and panic attacks. Guest guest
Nina, You say that you have problems with your adrenals as well. According to the PDR (physicians desk reference), adrenal insufficiency must be addressed before taking cytomel. If you have adrenal fatigue, this could be contributing to your issue. Guest guest
Did you literally mean cortisol, as in HC? I am not taking cortisol/cortisone, I am taking phosphytidal serine (brand name seriphos), which helps bring down high cortisol. Just want to make sure we are on the same page. Both my practitioners say not to stop supps. thanks! > > > > > > > > > > > > > > None of the doctor's here in Austin seem to totally understand reverse T3 syndrome, but one has read about it and is willing to work on it with me; I am giving her info from Nick's site. > > > > > > > > > > > > > > I thought I had reverseT3 syndrome cause my rT3 is high, but not sure about the ratio > > > > > > > Can someone help me understand this ratio (before my appt tomorrow/Monday 1 pm Central?): It doesn't fit the " ratio over 20 " rule but the units are off: > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Note that my cortisol is extremely high (4x saliva test) and I am under incredible stress: > > > > > > > > > > > > > > February test results > > > > > > > Free T3 265 (ref 230-420 pg/dl) > > > > > > > Rev T3 44 HIGH (ref 11-32 ng/dl) > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Does this look like Reverse T3 syndrome? > > > > > > > > > > > > > > I am on 12.5 mg of cytomel, was supposed to go up to 25 but that caused me complete insomnia til 7 am (I do take it in the morning), so doc said to back done to 12.5 until we retest free and reverse (tomorrow) and reevaluate. > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Thanks and sorry for the short notice, I am very sick with adrenals, thyroid, anxiety, depression and panic attacks.
