Guest guest
I was told by my pharacist that their is no generic Cytomel. What pharmacy told you that? I pay $42/mo for 25 mcg. I do not have any drug coverage. I can get generic Cytomel from my mail order Rx plan for FREE, or the brand Cytomel for $30/3 month supply or of course order Cynomel from Mexico. Any recommendations--I don't want an inferior product just because it's cheaper. THANKS!
Guest guest
It's called " liothyronine " and became available 3/23/09. Guest guest
My local pharmacy and my mail order pharmacy both dispense generic Cytomel. On the label it's called liothyronine. A 3 month supply is $30 mail order--though I haven't been able to take advantage of that yet since I still can't handle regular T3. Peggy Re: Generic Cytomel vs. Cynomel? Guest guest
My pharnacy gave me a one-day supply of generic Cytomel when they didn't have the brand in stock. I crashed horribly, cried all day, felt suicidal. It was terrifying. Definitely worth the cost for brand.I've read that the Cynomel is perhaps not as strong as Cytomel but works ok with adjustment. Make sure you ask Val orNick for a trustworthy source as you can get junk from the wrong place.Sent from my Verizon Wireless BlackBerryDate: Wed, 24 Mar 2010 09:51:42 -0700To: <RT3_T3 >Subject: Re: Generic Cytomel vs. Cynomel? Guest guest
I use the generic 5mg pills and do just fine with them. I've never tried Cytomel, so don't have any firsthand knowledge about differences in strength. But, if your doc is willing to prescribe according to symptoms and not restrict your dosage if you need more of the generic, I say why not give it a try? You can always switch to the Cytomel later if you need to. ka > > I can get generic Cytomel from my mail order Rx plan for FREE, or the brand Cytomel for $30/3 month supply or of course order Cynomel from Mexico. Guest guest
Liothyronine is the one I take. I am in the US. It's made in Mexico and is actually stronger than the U.S. version. Actually, Cynomel is made in Germany, and its labeling is customized for the Mexican market. Cynomel is essentially equivalent to Cytomel, though some have noticed slight differences in how effective each might be. Personally, I prefer the Cynomel because I don't have to get a prescription to obtain it and I don't have to deal with doubting doctors. A big plus is that I know it works and I feel much better than what my doctor would like to prescribe. Alan

Guest guest
I agree with Alan, for all the same reasons! I am just praying this new turn of events in our government doesn't make it near impossible to order from Mexico. Guest guest
The generic Cytomel (Liothyronine) by Padck. is weaker than Cynomel. I purchased the Cynomel while on the generic Padck. and found the Cynomel caused me adrenol stress when I took the same amount. My ferritin was very low when I started T3 only so for me the gernric was just right since it was weaker it allowed me to begin without stress as I worked on building my iron stores. It is an individual call on what works best. > > I can get generic Cytomel from my mail order Rx plan for FREE, or the brand Cytomel for $30/3 month supply or of course order Cynomel from Mexico.
