Guest guest
hello, can anyone tell me what is the longest time one has to/should wait till AP kicks in ? i'm getting edgey since i'm on the verge of going crippled due to my dicky knees. my GP/rheumy is breathing down my neck to go on DMARDs. my x-rays show a lot of damage (no surprise). wish i had've done AP years sooner instead of listening to that stupid chandu who came on the list with ideas of curing RA with diet - that wasn't helpful and just distracted me from doing AP. have i left it too late to reverse this horrible condition ? i'm feeling very anxious. thanks for putting up with my whining posts.... best, ~Leonie leoniecent@... 02 62556202
Guest guest
Leonie, my rheumatologist Dr Whitman, who a lot of people on this list go to, has said that he can help people with AP only if they come to him before they are too far gone with damage to their joints. I don't blame you for anxiety and think that you need to consult someone like him. His phone is 908-277-8640. You might have trouble getting through to him-he is protected by nurses--but I would try if I were you. To me you are not whining but in a real predicament. his phone On Aug 6, 2008, at 12:35 AM, leonie cent wrote: > hello, > can anyone tell me what is the longest time one has to/should wait > till AP kicks in ? i'm getting edgey since i'm on the verge of going > crippled due to my dicky knees. my GP/rheumy is breathing down my > neck to go on DMARDs. my x-rays show a lot of damage (no surprise). > wish i had've done AP years sooner instead of listening to that > stupid chandu who came on the list with ideas of curing RA with diet > - that wasn't helpful and just distracted me from doing AP. have i > left it too late to reverse this horrible condition ? i'm feeling > very anxious. thanks for putting up with my whining posts.... > > best, > > ~Leonie > leoniecent@... > > 02 62556202 > >

Guest guest
What type of band does your son have? My son started his STARband when he was 6.5 months old and wore it for 4.5 months before he outgrew it. When we started in the band our ortho thought he would be in it for up to 6 months. I suspect she didn't tell us any sooner so we wouldn't be disappointed if it didn't come off earlier. How long would any of you guess he might have to wear it? They said anywhere from 8 weeks to 6 months. I hope it's not 6 months, but if it is, it is. I know a baby that got his at 6 mths and he graduated at 8 mths, i hope that is us too. ------------------------------------For more plagio info
Guest guest
It all depends on how fast your son grows. They are literally readjusting the band to the growth of your child's head until they outgrow the band. And they can only make a helmet so much bigger than the child's head to begin with to assure proper fit and comfort. Which is why some parents have to go for a second band because the amount of growth allowed with the one did not transfer to enough correction. My son started around 7 months, I was told 3-4 wearing it, and he is set to have it off in two weeks, 3.5 months in. I am glad it is coming off soon though because as he gets older he is noticing it more and being bothered more by having to have it on. Guest guest
The severity level would also make a difference and how fast your baby grows. It will go by fast. -Kathy Molly Foley wrote: What type of band does your son have? My son started his STARband when he was 6.5 months old and wore it for 4.5 months before he outgrew it. Guest guest
This is a little off the OP's question, but it's related. Do you think if a baby's head shape has responded well to positioning that it would respond quickly to the band?
Guest guest
Yes, rate of head growth and severity are the to biggest factors. That and how perfect you want the head to be. Some will settle for just inside of normal or even very mild, but others want that number to be near perfect. Guest guest
My son got his at 7 1/2 months, and is getting his off in 3 weeks.... so he will have had it for 4 months. They told us 3-4 months, so they were pretty right on. Our Cranial Technician said she would have liked to keep him in it a few more weeks, but that he was out growing it, and he has made SUCH great progress, that she thinks he will be just fine. You have a HUGE time gap there though.... so hopefully it will only be a few months, and not the full 6!! Good luck!!! :-) > > My son is 6 months old today, he has had his helmet a little over a week now. How long would any of you guess he might have to wear it?
