Hi Cooky

Thanks for that.

Which antibiotic did you change to for three weeks to give Minocin a rest?

Is that a website, togeher,noway?

Hope you are fine.

Ken.

Ken hi,

I went thru a lot of times like you are going thru now. I usually changed my

antibiotic for about 3 weeks then back to Minocin. I've been doing this for

10 years. Minocin doesn't loose its efficacy per say it just needs a rest.:)

If you're talking about adding methotrexate then maybe it may help get you

over this spot. If you're talking about stopping Minocin altogether.no way.

Hope this helps.

Subject: rheumatic Minocin to Methotrexate

Hi all

For 3 years I did pretty well on Minocin Antx. however, I have been

going through a flair for 4 months. All my joints ache when I kneel or

get into the bath. My left knee is swollen. The tendon connecting my

right thumb is swollen and I cannot give the 'thumbs -up' sign. Between

2 and 4 am I have universal joint pain as I lie in bed. My left knee

really hurts to the extent that I cannot move it. I have chronic

fatigue.

I took tetracycline 500mgms 4 times a day MWF. I also took Cipro 500mgms

twice a day for a week at the same time. No this is not on a web site. I am

a nurse and my ap doc loves that about me :-) and he let me direct my care.

He is the best. He went to the info sessions a long time ago but still is

not really up on antibiotics for other patients. He will give antibiotics if

asked tho.

Hope it helps. Have a healthy 2008.

Be careful with the Cipro. My dr put me on it for a couple months and

it caused me tendon rupture. Its a little known fact that Cipro can

cause tendon rupture and tendonitis because it normally happens with

the more powerful antibiotics such as Levaquin. Just a word to the

wise to be careful with the stuff.

You are right , I totally forgot about that. It did not happen to me

but that doesn't mean it won't happen to someone else.
