I have been on AP since 2001 and have not seen any side effects. I use the

pellatized capsules (time release) and at the age of 61 have had no

tumors... even though I keep out a sharp look as cancer runs in the family.

In a

perfect world we would have found a complete cure by now, unfortunately that is

not the case. I take comfort in the fact that minocin is still one of the

best meds for RA with the least side effects that occur only rarely. I

shudder to think where i would now be if I had stayed on MTX, prednisone and

numerous others with horrendous side effects taken everyday by thousands.

Both my

pharmacist (who is also using minocin) and my doc feel the risk of tumors is

not proven and side effects in long term almost nil. So far this has proved

true for me and I rarely even get sick with colds anymore. Martha

Hi Martha. Funny you mentioned the lack of colds. I just had my first cold in 8

yrs. That is because Mike and I play Santa Claus and Elf. We go to christmas

parties and hand out the gifts. My husband who is not on Minocin gets a cold

from a snotty kid who sneezes on him every Christmas and this year was my first.

That is because I was off the Minocin for 6 weeks prior to starting the

Marshall. I am back up to 75 mg every 48-72 hours (experimenting) now. And hope

to go to phase 2 in about 2 weeks. The cold coincided with the cancelling of

Mino. I'm glad I'm back on it again. I too, use the pelleted kind that comes

in the muti-green colored gel cap made by Triax.

My doc wouldn't order any other. It works. So, Amen to Minocin---The best to
