Guest guest
Hi Wicca; After years of trying to figure out wheather I was having disease progression or herx I found some info on the MP site that set me straight. If you are on the antibiotics and hurt like hell it could well be a herx. The easy way to tell is if you stop them for 3-4 days and the pain goes away or lessens considerably you know you are herxing. I have been in remission for years but still have serious herxing ..Whenever I have to do something important where I don't want to have that achy feeling I stop for 3 days before and resume the antibiotics after. When I was on Mino 200mg a day there was never any herxing,it only started when I started 3 antibiotics ,low dose and pulsed. Guest guest
Sharp pain in a single knee sounds like a meniscal tear. Get an X-ray. The X-ray will not be conclusive, but justify an MRI. The MRI will show the tear and justify arthroscopic surgery (through three small holes). The surgery will fix the problem. If the problem is a tear, which is likely, no amount of antibiotics will fix the problem. If you have PPO health insurance, see an arthroscopic surgeon at the outset for your diagnosis, not a rheumatologist, as a rheumatoligist will simply prescribe more and more drugs. I went through this process in 2005 and 2007. My wife went through the process earlier this year and is now doing great. Guest guest
Thank you for the information. We'll keep an eye on it. Herxing is a good thing, so I don't think we'll stop the antibiotics in the middle of their good work just to see if that's what it is. We haven't noticed any difference around the days he takes the antibiotics and the days he doesn't. As long as their is no heat and no swelling or inflamation, we'll just watch it. Thanks again > > Hi Wicca; > After years of trying to figure out wheather I was having disease > progression or herx I found some info on the MP site that set me > straight. If you are on the antibiotics and hurt like hell it could well > be a herx. The easy way to tell is if you stop them for 3-4 days and the > pain goes away or lessens considerably you know you are herxing. > I have been in remission for years but still have serious herxing > .Whenever I have to do something important where I don't want to have > that achy feeling I stop for 3 days before and resume the antibiotics > after. When I was on Mino 200mg a day there was never any herxing,it only > started when I started 3 antibiotics ,low dose and pulsed. Guest guest
That's a strong possibility as he has a tear in the other knee. The doctor said it would heal on it's own if he didn't stress it. He has an appt in a week, we'll have her check this knee as well, and definately discuss surgery if he's torn this one as well. Thanks for the information. > > >We have a new situation and I'd like everyone opinion on the > >possibilities. > > > >Mr Perfect's left knee has become very painful. > >It is a sharp, stabing, intermitent pain only in > >his left knee.
