A doctor who is knowledgeable about RT3 sounds like a keeper. My own doctor

doesn't " believe in " RT3 and opposes T3-only treatment. (The ONLY reason she is

still my Dr. is that she does IVs and I can get my Venofer there.)

It is unfortunate that your Dr. is not on board about the ferritin - many

doctors believe that low ferritin is a symptomless condition. That was just not

true with me. Years ago when Venofer IVs raised my ferritin level from 12 to 80

I felt a tremendous improvement. I realize now this was also

thyroid-related...because at a ferritin of 12 I could NOT utilize thyroid; but

at 80 I COULD.

Ideally your doctor would support your iron supplementing, but his support is

not essential. You can supplement and/or seek IVs elsewhere according to your

own best judgment, and get your own ferritin tests, without your doctor, from

econolabs.com

You may not need IVs. Most people can raise ferritin successfully by

supplementing 150-200 mg elemental iron daily (Val recommends blue bonnet iron

bisglycinate). It just takes longer this way.

If you do decide to get more info on getting IVs, here's a link to a post about

finding where to get Venofer IVs

health.groups.yahoo.com/group/RT3_T3/message/36032

Hope this helps.

PS I sent this post in a few days ago, but it never showed up; I understand

Yahoo is being temperamental at the moment; so if it does show up at some point

and I appear to be repeating myself, this is why!

down to .5 so maybe I am just " chasing the decaying t4 " as Nick says and am not

taking enough t3 to make up for it.
