Hi Miranda,

DO you Have IC? I live in vancouver and I have vulvodynia, but was also

diagnosed witn IC a few months ago. I just started " rescue instillation "

treatments with The urologist tiechman, and am currently being

treatment out of the vulvar pain clinic at VGH. I am hoping to see a

difference in the vulvar pain after these instilaltions are done, although

my IC is fairly mild I'd say.

Hi

I am in Vancouver also and wondering how you can get tino this

clinic. I was seen at Women's by Rhone but only got a PT

referral. There is a study at UBC I am trying to get on also bu

they won't return any calls.

What is rescue instillation? Have you done any Physcial therapy?

Any other suggestions for who to see. Marcy Dayan is great for PT.

Thanks!

Hi Alison,

I'm seeing Marcy also, she's great! stick with her, she's not only a good

PT, she's a wealth of information. I'm actually seeing her next week.

Unfortunately, I had to wait to get into the clinic for about 13 months I

think. that being said, I got a referral through the gyno Dr.

. He's great, really nice, if you could get your GP to refer you to

him, it would probably be helpful. He was in communication with DR.

Sawdownick, one of two working in the vulvar pain clinic, and she instructed

him to put me on effexor( did'nt do it for me, but does for some). After I

got in, I saw her for a while without great results ( i have a certain

amount of constant breakthrough pain in my tender points, so I'm a more

complicated case),and eventually after consulting her partner in the clinic

( Dr. Sydney Tompson) I switched over to her. She usually deals with the

sexual medicine side of things, but also has some patients she deals with

pain control with directly. She's more personable than Dr.Sawdownik. I am

currently on Neurontin and am hoping to see some positive results soon.

So, while the women's clinic waitlist is ridiculously long, with a good gyno

and a good GP you could be making progress before that hopefully. What are

your symptoms?

Feel free to email me at jpc1@... if you want to continue this

discussion.

P.S ( what is this UBC study?)

:)

  • 2 weeks later...

Hi girls. To answer your questions, I was never diagnosed with IC,

but I did have my hunches. I just can't believe how much better I

am. I swear to go it's the Vitamin C. I've heard for people with IC

Vit. C makes it worse. But whatever that's what I've been doing and

it's working. I still have good days and bad days with

inflammation...I just wish my boyfriend was here so that I could see

if we were actually able to have intercourse. I will have to wait

another three weeks to find out! Keeping my fingers crossed.
