Guest guest
The package is "greek" to me, as it doesn't come with an English informational sheet, only German, Dutch and French. LOL!!! I know Norwegian, which is my maiden language, and English, as well as Norwegian I'd say.Hertoghe told me to take this iron after my dinner/supper. I asked him and he said it was ok to take it as I go to bed. So I guess I can try that! Guest guest
Do you notice any diffference when taking iron; less anxiety? Changing iron type I was on ferrous bisglycinate (chelated iron) 100 mg for many months.. Now my Ferritin has finally gotten a bit up there, at 73 today. It has been doubled, which is good. Hertoghe, which is my specialist, told me to start taking ferrous sulfate. 525 mg a tablet. I think this means it is about 100 mg ELEMENTAL IRON, am I right? Thus the same size I took before. Just wanted to get your opinion on this - I just wanna be sure I am taking 100, not 525 mg iron! And would it be cool to take this type of iron as I go to bed, as well? Do I _have_ to eat before I take this iron? Cause with chelated iron, I can take it with no food.__________ Information from ESET NOD32 Antivirus, version of virus signature database 5014 (20100409) __________The message was checked by ESET NOD32 Antivirus.http://www.eset.com __________ Information from ESET NOD32 Antivirus, version of virus signature database 5014 (20100409) __________ The message was checked by ESET NOD32 Antivirus. http://www.eset.com

Guest guest
Hi Here in Australia we have a product that has 325mg of ferrous sulphate which contains 105mg of elemental iron. I just never understand doctors sometimes. Your ferritin level is going good why bother changing. Especially to ferrous sulphate which is the worst one you can take. Thats why the chelated one works so good because it is much more absorbable compared to the sulphate. Guest guest
I agree I would stick with iron bisglycinate. Besides what Sky wrote below, the bisglycinate form does NOT ionize in the gut (you can read the Albion studies on this for proof), therefore it doesn't bind thyroid hormones! And it doesn't cause bowel problems, either. If your doc thinks you don't need so much iron anymore, why not just take a bit less of the iron bisglycinate? Guest guest
I think I found out that these 535 mg of ferrous sulfate, with Vitamin C included, is 105 mg elemental iron. The same as I was taking already. I will ask him about this change! To me it seemed like he never heard of chelated iron - But maybe I am wrong! I had positive experiences with chelated iron!Subject: Re: Changing iron typeTo: RT3_T3 Date: Sunday, April 11, 2010, 7:04 PM  I agree I would stick with iron bisglycinate. Guest guest
Hi Just don't tell your doc that you are sticking with chelated. For once something is working for you don't go and change it. Guest guest
HI. That Ferrous Sulphate is Ferro-Grad or Ferro-Grad C, yes it is about 100mg elemental iron - it is helpful for a lot of people, but for others it can be very constipating and cause gut issues, it's not the best form. It's recommended by the doctors because it is the one they are educated about. (Well when I say educated....) Here in Perth, there is a liquid Ferrous Sulphate called Red Iron which is well tolerated, easily absorbed - no gut issues, no sorbate sweeteners - and very effective at bring iron levels up. I'm not sure if it's available in other states, and probably a more expensive way to go compared to Iron byglycinate. Personally, I would stick with the biglycinate form - well tolerated, no gut issues, good press for effectiveness, good price. You could always take your container in to show your doctor, so he can see what you have been doing. I don't think the FerroGrad would be an improvement, and if he wants your iron levels to come up faster, take more of the biglycinate.
