Guest guest
Hi all, Unfortunately using groups we can't delete these messages before they reach the group. They are sent by spammers who sign up to , send their spam (as if there aren't better things to do) and then leave. Some we can ban if they are still members but most of the time the address has disappeared by the time we look. We could of course make this a moderated group, but then we would have to check and approve everyone who applies to join and we simply don't have the resources to do that. And it isn't easy to tell spammers from genuine patients as the spammer can tell a story to get membership. So I can only say 'hit delete'. Compared to most groups, we get very little spam on ours. Guest guest
I didn't hit delet, I hit spam, hopefully this got them off my computer. Eva > This message is totally uncalled for! Please delete them
Guest guest
Hi Eva, Hitting 'spam' will train your mail program to put messages from this person into your spam mail in the future. Then you will have to empty/delete your spam mail to delete all the messages in there. When we get similar trashy messages from others in the future, you'll have to mark those as spam as well. Chris. Guest guest
Eva, I'm wondering: since the posts come from " rheumatic@groups " would putting a message into " spam " then end up putting all rheumatic list e-mails into the spam folder? Guest guest
Hi Ute, Good point - I was thinking it came from an individual email address and can't check as I deleted it. Yes, marking a message as spam will put all future messages from the same sender into spam mail. So if you put a message from rheumatic into spam your mail program will put all future messages from rheumatic into spam also. So safer just to delete any of this type of message. If anyone has already marked the message as spam then just go to it in your spam folder and mark it as 'not spam'. Chris. Guest guest
Hi alll, Anyone who gets their email using Outlook Express can click on the " message " link at the top of the page, then click 'block sender' and if this person tries to email again, it will be blocked. hth, carol_DM
Guest guest
How do you do it with regular outlook? I have mine set up so I have a preview pane before I open them, that way I can usually tell if it's some clown that is sending unwelcome messages and I delete them without opening them. ________________________________ From: rheumatic [mailto:rheumatic ] On Behalf Of Bob & Carol Zarn Sent: Monday, January 11, 2010 9:02 AM rheumatic Subject: rheumatic Re: Put your doughnut in her oven Hi alll, Anyone who gets their email using Outlook Express can click on the " message " link at the top of the page, then click 'block sender' and if this person tries to email again, it will be blocked. hth, carol_DM
Guest guest
The block sender will only work on individual emails if you receive messages from rheumaticgroups that way. If you get the digest version of the emails, do not do the block sender or you will not get any mail from this site. sorry for not mentioning this in my previous post. carol_DM
