Guest guest
I'm pretty sure that a friend of mine has RT3 issues. Her doc, of course, says nothing is wrong. *sigh* Can anyone give me any advice based on the labs and info below? Her FT3 is 2.5 (range 2.0 - 4.4) Her FT4 is 1.30 (range 0.82 - 1.77) Her RT3 is 435 (range 90 - 350) I think this gives her a RT3 ratio of 0.57. Her Ferritin is normal at 153 (range 10 - 291) Her Cortisol level (blood drawn) is 10.4 (range 2.3 - 19.4) drawn at 4:15 p.m. She was taking 50 mcg Synthroid for nearly a year with no dose increase and no improvement in symptoms. When her labs showed a RT3 of 435, the doc said he needed her to go off all medications so he could get her to a " baseline, " and told her to come back in 8 weeks. Now he can't see her until August! She has terribly hypothyroid symptoms and is getting worse with each day, and I'm talking to her now about changing docs. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks,
Guest guest
I can't help with the ratio but this really angers me...how irresponsible of this doctor to tell her to come back in 8 weeks and THEN can't see her until August!?? Did he at least put her back on some type of medication or does he not care that she will just keep getting sicker and sicker until he has time for her....unbelievable....she definitely needs a different doctor.VeniziaSubject: Help with calculating RT3 ratioTo: RT3_T3 Date: Monday, March 22, 2010, 5:37 PM I'm pretty sure that a friend of mine has RT3 issues. Guest guest
You would move the decimal point so it would be 5.7. That is a pretty bad ratio. Her ferritn looks good. I don't know anything about cortisol but I am sure someone will respond to that. Good luck with the dr.
