It sounds like you've been down the self medication > route before, T3 is cheap, $49 for 300 plus about $10 postage. > > Nick > > -- > > for more information on RT3 and Thyroid Resistance go to > > www.thyroid-rt3.com I posted these lab results over on the adrenal group, so sorry if this is a re-post to some of you. All tests were blood & urine. this dr. has ordered me off Thyroid S, rx'd synthroid and cytomel to slowly wean me down. my question is, should I just take the cytomel and skip the synthroid. That's my gut feeling. Can you recommend a dosing schedule? I think that I should also start ferritin supplementation - what is a good brand? She said that a rt3 test is useless and doesn't test ferritin levels . Yes, I know that she is not the dr. for me. I am just waiting for MRI results to come in. > The tests were fasting in AM...Last thyroid dose was the previous morning. I started w/ 4 grains real Armour in 2004. Switched to Thyroid S in 2006 w/my dr.retired, all was good at the same dose til about 8 months ago, I upped dose to 5. Honestly, I hate to admit it, but actually took 10 grains daily for a few weeks and had no side effects, but didn't feel any better. Still had the same old symptoms - fibro pain, extreme tiredness and a very low morning oral temp, between 96.8 and 97.2 Hair is faling out. cut back to 5 grains. Figured why take so much if I was still feeling like crap. I swallow pills, not sublingual. The estrogen was checked 2x's and remains about the same. I went for MRI of pelvis and abdomen Saturday to rule out tumors. I also have a seizure disorder (diagnosed in 2004) and EEG's remain abnormal. they are absence type seizures, I have read hypothyroid can masquerade as a seizure disorder. Sounds a good plan to me http://thyroid-rt3.com/dosing.htm will give you a starting point plus the temperature checks for adrenal function, the need for ferritin, and the things to consider when deciding to increase or not >I think that I should also start ferritin supplementation - what is a good brand? Take the T3 sublingually if it's within 4 hours of taking the iron as the iron blocks T3 absorption in the stomach. Have a good look through here www.thyroid-rt3.com and feel free to ask questions.
