Guest guest
> >I sent this a few hours ago, but have received no response. Sorry but I had a very busy day yesterday >I have an appointment with my doctor tomorrow and want to be prepared. I just received my new labs. After a month on SR T3 at 10 mcg twice a day, plus iron for low ferritin, plus HC, here are my new results, with the reference range in parentheses: > >T3, free serum 2.7 (2.0-3.5) pg/mL Very hypo sstill, that would need to be top of range or over to feel well >RT3 173 (90-350) pg/mL If you can bring the FT3 up without that rising further you will start feeling well. I suspect this will go down a LOT further though along your journey before receptors clear >T4, free 0.97 (.89-1.76) ng/dL Not yet low enough to stop making RT5 >ferritin, serum 25.7 (11.1-264.0) ng/mL TOO LOW, needs to be 70 to 90 to tolerate the amount of T3 that you are going to need to feel well > >If I'm calculating this correctly, my ratio is 15.6 (2700 FT3 divided by 173 RT3). A month ago, my RT3 was 434 with a ratio of 4.8. My ferritin has gone from 15 to 25.7. Going strictly by the numbers, this looks like significant improvement in RT3. Why do I not feel any better at all? Receptors lag 6 weeks behind serum, you are also very hypo even without resistance >Also, I have been having stomach problems ever since starting the SR T3. I thought it was the iron, but have stopped that a week ago and still have stomach problems. So now I think maybe it's the methyl cellulose in the compounded SR T3, and am considering asking my doctor for regular T3, which I know you recommend. Seems a good plan >Can you comment on the lack of improvement in the way I feel, and make any recommendations I can discuss in my appointment tomorrow? Thanks so much. you need to get T3 up towards the 75 to 125 mark and stay there for at least 6 weeks, to do this ferritin will need to be higher. Have you considered iron IVs www.venofer.com They can bring ferritin up quickly and then you can start increasing T3 and start getting the serum RT3 low enough to clear receptors Nick -- for more information on RT3 and Thyroid Resistance go to www.thyroid-rt3.com
Guest guest
Hi Nick, Thanks so much for your clear and easy-to-understand response. I've printed it out in preparation for my appointment with my doctor a couple of hours from now. I really appreciate your help in clarifying these things for me, so that I can go into this consultation with some understanding of what's going on and what I need to ask for.
