Guest guest
It's only on this forum that I can say I didn't take ibuprophen for first time in morning....that I get back such excitement and support! It is a HUGH step, isn't it! Sally rheumatic Re: Apple Cider Vinegar, SAD, and progress with AP!! Great info. Thanks. I don't know if it needs to be taken on an empty stomach...I know I've taken it in water before and had a hard time getting it down. Here's a simple recipe for a wonderful salad dressing with apple cider vinegar. 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar 1/2 cup olive oil 1/2 cup honey (or maple syrup or agave) Store in a bottle. Shake well before pouring over salad. Dolores...have you considered Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD)? In PR I wouldn't think that you'd experience a lack of sunshine, but perhaps your body is conditioned to " hibernating " in winter. Here is a link to info on it. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seasonal_affective_disorder And SALLY. I rejoice with you at your first morning of being able to get out of bed without Ibuprofen! That is so exciting. A small step, but a milestone on your road to recovery. I'd say what you are doing now is working...and the Chinese herb, hey, anything to help with the pain. My mother-in-law is always suggesting a cream or sending me heating gloves and such. I just kind of laugh. Others don't understand that the pain is so intense that these palliatives are like using a wine cork to stop a flood. I just love this forum. Thanks to all who contribute. Who share your frustrations and successes and concerns and provide confirmation that AP works. Together we are healing more than just our bodies. Guest guest
Thanks for the article on SAD. I never heard of it before and I first noticed it in 1991 when my husband suddenly got sick and landed in the hospital. Subsequently, he had two strokes. He spent 10months in the hospital due to further complications. I presented my nursing license to the office and they set up a cot beside him for me. I did his TLC, and kept him rolled over and clean, while they hung the iv's and administered the medications.  He was in isolation. often  times, they would just hand me things through the door He was finally released in April of 1992. I had gotten so used to be in close dark quarters, that I felt awkward being outside and wanted the comfort of the closed in feeling. As he got better, I would accompany him down to physical and occupational therapy. He had to have his foot amputated also and so when he did finally start walking, I held his arm while he tolddled.  We had a winnebago and started to travel around to the different flea markets and slept in the RV a lot. We gave up the apartment until we reached NYC from California in 1996. It was October and we got an apt and sold the Winnie. Mike was up on his feet by then and doing well. The only thing that got me out of the house was the dog we adopted. That first winter, I didn't venture far, but by summer we had met a group of musicians who got together weekly to play instruments and even though Mike couldn't play his guitar well any longer, he took up playing the harmonica. I grabbed a tambourine and joined the band. In winter, we did not get together as often, but there were house parties and in between, I went back into my hibernation mode. This went on for about 13 years. Each winter, I became more of a hermit. Tried to solve the problem by getting a mobile home to go to in Fl., but still found it too cold to go out, so I hibernated again. Then I came down with scleroderma and couldn't do anything for the entire winter but sleep. I was finally properly diagnosed with SD and figured I was just cold intolerant. My lungs were badly sclerosed and breathing was a chore. I went on A/p, then moved to Fl and then took care of my 95 year old Mom for two years.  My move to Puerto Rico was for that purpose. I wanted to be in sunshine even though I was on the MP and had to darken my shades, cover myself up and wear the NoIR glasses. but I did go into remission. I am now taking melatonin now because I notice that I stay up all night and the moment dawn rises, I fall off into a deep sleep. Went to a sleep lab several times and was diagnosed with Sleep apnea and given a CPAP machine. After two years, the tubing has become worn and I tried getting new tubing through the Insurance company, but was told that it was not available. I never went manic, and am basically even tempered, love the parties and the music, but just love to sleep my winters away when I feel cold even here in Puerto Rico. That is the reason I brought it up because it surprised me. This is my first real winter in P.R. and even in 75 degree weather, I feel cold. When I feel cold I head for the blanket and the bed and want to get warm & cozy Usually I fall asleep asleep. Never heard of SAD before. Thank you for the article. I never gain weight sleeping, in fact, I lose weight. I am about 30 lbs thinner than I was 6 years ago. Of course, I am delighted as I was originally 20lbs or more over weight. Now I am just right. During christmas season, I tend to be busy with decorations and baking, etc and the SAD always started right after New Years eve. One year we went to Cuba for that week and I was fine. Sometimes in the winter when we were in California, we would go down to the Mexican Riviera for the three months during Jan, Feb & Mar. and I would be okay. Ever since I was a child I loved summers and hated winters. Never thought it was a disease or a condition. I will definitely study the syndrome. Anybody else have this? Thanks. Dolores    From: Amy <muttville@...> Subject: rheumatic Re: Apple Cider Vinegar, SAD, and progress with AP!! rheumatic Date: Friday, March 25, 2011, 10:29 AM  Great info.
