Guest guest
Thank you for your input. The second paragraph sounds like me. I have some of these symptoms like being a night owl, weight gain, skin tags .... these I have. How do you get checked for this? What tests do you take?Heavy metal could also be a cause. I know I had a lot of filling as a kid. Have you ever considered heavy metal toxicity. Heavy metals are known to settle in glands and organs, encourage pathogens, and may cause resistance to various treatments as well as weight gain. They can disrupt communication between cells severly. What Val's says makes sense to with high cortisol which would give you cushings like symptoms such as depression, low sex drive, sometimes causes people to be night owls, moon face, weight gain, buffalo hump around C7, skin tags around neck area, pigmentation problems with skin..... also some are prone to pituitary adenoma's and that can be the cause of cushing's. Lastly there are many, viruses, bacteria, and parasites which posses quite an intellegence in terms survival mechanisms which allow them to make your body their permanent residence and in the mean time effect organ function, create severe mineral/vitamin deficiencies by disrupting digestion and so on. Personally if it where me and all my #'s check out ok including cortisol, i would start looking else where. While thyroid, adrenals, ferritin are all huge there are still many other possibilities from inherited genetic weakness in organs/glands or genetic enzyme deficiencies to being severly deficient on an intracellular level in key nutrients that are required to utilize fats efficiently or produce key neurotransmitters that allow the brain to function optimally. Guest guest
I do have ringing in my ears along with poor recall, numbness in my arms, lower back soreness that comes and goes, joint issue and hair loss. This sounds very much like heavy metal problems. Well you have already done one of the tests which is the cortisol test. Your night time cortisol doesn't seem high enough to suggest cushings. Although it looks like your morning cortisol is high- although this would not suggest cushings maybe it is high enough in the morning to create some symptoms. Val is really the expert and she would have a much better idea about this. With the heavy metal you made have additional symptoms like ringing of the ear, poor memory recall, numbness/tingling sensations, weak kidneys (urinating frequently at night, low back soreness, joint discomfort, inhibition of enzymes, hair loss. These are just some and of course certain people might have most symptoms while some will have a few. > > >
Guest guest
I missed the post below for some reason, must have gone into my junk folder. I'm going to get this test from Econolabs and they have three different tests. Iron and TIBC, Iron Serum and UIBC, do I get all three tests taken? And do I get Ferritin tested too? I'm tan most of the year so I have no idea if I've got a bronze look or not. My liver ALT did come up high the last time I had tests done. I suppose I should test for B12? Hey , who are you referring to in your message below. I have no idea how to read these labs. I'm totally clueless to all of this stuff. Louise "if serum iron, transferrin saturation, and ferritin are high and you have low total iron binding capacity this is mostlikely hemochromatosis which is heavy metal toxicity." Sorry to hijack this post, but I was reading your statement and I suspected this may be the case with my iron panel. So I looked them up from 2007 and it looks like I may have heavy metal toxicity like you mentioned. Could you take a look at my iron panel and tell me if you agree? Iron Bind. Cap. (TIBC) 243 range 250 - 450 UIBC 144 range 150 - 375 Iron, Serum 99 range 35 - 155 Iron Saturation 41 range 15 - 55 Ferritin, Serum 208 range 10 - 291 Or does anyone know what this means? Thanks! > > > Interesting. Sounds like your kidneys are burdened. Val suggestion about a full iron panel is a good idea b/c if serum iron, transferrin saturation, and ferritin are high and you have low total iron binding capacity this is mostlikely hemochromatosis which is heavy metal toxicity. With iron you might also have bronze look to your skin or some can look jaundice b/c of stress on liver. > > However if this isn't the case there are many troubling heavy metals out there. Especially if you had lots of metal fillings. God knows there's various ways to be exposed. In fact it can even be passed from parent to child. > > B12 will also help protect your nervous system and should help w/ tingling. Guest guest
Okay, I just pulled this message out of my junk folder. I'm going to get tested for the full panel of iron tests and ferritin serum, then I can see from these test results whats going on. If hemochromatosis is the problem how is it solved? Interesting. Guest guest
A easy way to solve it is to give blood. Guest guest
" if serum iron, transferrin saturation, and ferritin are high and you have low total iron binding capacity this is mostlikely hemochromatosis which is heavy metal toxicity. " Sorry but I do nto believe this si true. If serum iron is high(in range) your IBC (both TIBC and UIBC) SHOULD be low in range. It means you do nto need mroe iron, as your serum levels are good and your CAPACITY to bind MORE iron is low as it shoudl be when serum levels are good. Iron Bind. Cap. (TIBC) 243 range 250 - 450 UIBC 144 range 150 - 375 Iron, Serum 99 range 35 - 155 KEY! Thsi os NOT high it is perfect Iron Saturation 41 range 15 - 55 KEY! It si not high it is perfect Ferritin, Serum 208 range 10 - 291 KEY! Guest guest
Hey Irene, nope you're not a pain. I don't take HC, I just tried it for that day. I've tried it in the past and it's only given me headaches and sick all over. No I haven't tested for aldosterone. These labs are not new and I'm having new ones done soon. Maybe I can add this in with my iron panel. Yes, salt makes me swell too. I wondered about taking K. Where do you get it? At the risk of being a pain, I have to ask if you checked your aldosterone? Especially with low sodium labs? Salt didn't touch my high heart rate, but treating low aldosterone did. I got high cortisol symptoms from being on too much HC, including the weight gain, because I needed aldosterone instead of so much HC. Salt alone only made me swell. I also needed Slow K.
