Guest guest
since ferritin can be elevated with inflammation could it be that your ferritin "looks"normal but really is not and it is only looking higher due to inflammation...so maybe a full iron panel to determine if ferritin is really o.k or a false reading.... Subject: getting worse not betterTo: RT3_T3 Date: Monday, April 12, 2010, 4:13 PM I'm totally at a loss as what to do anymore. I have tried everything and nothing helps. Since being on T3 only for over a year I'm still having high heart rate plus a bunch of other issues I didn't have before. I can't take T4 only, or Armour so what's left to take besides T3? I thought I was doing everything right. Today my heart rate is at 116 sitting and I can't bring it down for the life of me. Salt has not helped, HC has not helped, it fact I think it made it worse, I've tried taking magnesium. So what do I do? I'm getting very depressed and on top of this I keep gaining weight. 14 pounds in three months. This has been going on for the entire year. When I cut back on T3 from 75 to 70 mcg I become totally unable to function like I can't get out of bed. Right now I have foggy thinking and no strength in any of my arms or legs. I'm so sick people asking if I had labs done. I know they mean well but I take them every so many months and they are always the same. I have taken ferritin but I'll take it once again to show how it's not low. I've taken that panel to show sodium ( can't think of it now ) it was a tab low and so I do add salt to my diet and in water ( celtic salt ).Ft3Ft4I've take Cortisol saliva five times and each time it shows not low but low on the normal side durning the day and morning is very high. So, I started taking Melatonin at night and got a great sleep but woke up like I had a hang over so stopped taking it and felt 100 % better when I don't take it.I watch what I eat. little sugar, low carbs lots of good fats and proteins.I think I'm doing everything right but yet I can't take T3. What's left for me to do? More tests to show what? What am I missing. I can't keep feeling this bad all the time.I hope someone can help because I'm getting tired of writing these messages and tried of not being able to figure this out. All I hear is low ferritin and salt all the time. What am I missing here? What is I don't have low ferritin? What about other things that I need to be looking for? Guest guest
Have you ever considered heavy metal toxicity. Heavy metals are known to settle in glands and organs, encourage pathogens, and may cause resistance to various treatments as well as weight gain. They can disrupt communication between cells severly. What Val's says makes sense to with high cortisol which would give you cushings like symptoms such as depression, low sex drive, sometimes causes people to be night owls, moon face, weight gain, buffalo hump around C7, skin tags around neck area, pigmentation problems with skin..... also some are prone to pituitary adenoma's and that can be the cause of cushing's. Lastly there are many, viruses, bacteria, and parasites which posses quite an intellegence in terms survival mechanisms which allow them to make your body their permanent residence and in the mean time effect organ function, create severe mineral/vitamin deficiencies by disrupting digestion and so on. Personally if it where me and all my #'s check out ok including cortisol, i would start looking else where. While thyroid, adrenals, ferritin are all huge there are still many other possibilities from inherited genetic weakness in organs/glands or genetic enzyme deficiencies to being severly deficient on an intracellular level in key nutrients that are required to utilize fats efficiently or produce key neurotransmitters that allow the brain to function optimally. Guest guest
Well you have already done one of the tests which is the cortisol test. Your night time cortisol doesn't seem high enough to suggest cushings. Although it looks like your morning cortisol is high- although this would not suggest cushings maybe it is high enough in the morning to create some symptoms. Val is really the expert and she would have a much better idea about this. With the heavy metal you made have additional symptoms like ringing of the ear, poor memory recall, numbness/tingling sensations, weak kidneys (urinating frequently at night, low back soreness, joint discomfort, inhibition of enzymes, hair loss. These are just some and of course certain people might have most symptoms while some will have a few. > > >

Guest guest
Your ferritin is very high, have you had a full iron panel? I knwo more labs, btu that si how to find out what is oging on. I have often wondered if high ferritin interferes with thyroid as low does, it may be part of your issues. With your labs I would suggest adaptogens. Rhodiola and Phosphorylated serine. Possibly DHEA, progesterone and Testosterone., ALL your androgens are very low and that can take the strength right out of you and cause muscle wasting and fatigue. That si also symptomatic of HIGH cortiosl, so I would take the counters for it which si androgen replacement, zinc, DHEA in the monrings and melatonin at bedtime. PS during the day with rodiola and ashwaganda. -- http://nthadrenalsweb.org/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/ http://faqhelp.webs.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/RT3_T3/ http://www.thyroid-rt3.com/ http://groups.yahoo.com/group/HypoPets/ http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/

Guest guest
Val, I was taking 3mg of Melatonin and I was waking up groggy and sick. So, I started to take 1/2 mg and that worked much better, then I stopped taking it altogether. I can't sleep as well when I don't take some melatonin and 1/4 or 1/2 seems to work best for me. I'll get a full iron panel done and I want to take another cortisol saliva test, what other tests do I need to take?
Guest guest
There are three tests for iron with EconoLabs, Iron and TIBC, Iron serum and UIBC... which one do I take? Guest guest
Interesting. Sounds like your kidneys are burdened. Val suggestion about a full iron panel is a good idea b/c if serum iron, transferrin saturation, and ferritin are high and you have low total iron binding capacity this is mostlikely hemochromatosis which is heavy metal toxicity. With iron you might also have bronze look to your skin or some can look jaundice b/c of stress on liver. However if this isn't the case there are many troubling heavy metals out there. Especially if you had lots of metal fillings. God knows there's various ways to be exposed. In fact it can even be passed from parent to child. B12 will also help protect your nervous system and should help w/ tingling. As you might already know b12 def can also cause a some of your symptoms.
