Guest guest
Hi Val, Oh my! I never even thought of graves disease coming into the picture! But I am definitely not hypERthyroid - still have very little energy, could fall asleep right now - is graves still possible if you don't have any energy?! Surely I would be losing weight, too? In the last month I have been putting ON weight, so I cut my calories down last week, and still no weight loss. Ok, I will head to the doc again on Monday...oh dear. Could the isocort I am on be causing this?! Do you perhaps have any idea about my calcium situation? And are sodium and potassium ok? Thanks so much! > > Haley at the very least ytou need ot get FT3 tested,. Guest guest
Thanks Val. Ok, I guess its back to the doc. Do you think isocort could cause this? Perhaps a reaction to the echinachea or something? And do you have any idea about my extremely high aldosterone? Thanks again! Guest guest
Thanks again, Val. Do you think the lab could have made a mistake on my aldosterone test then? It was 69.53ng/dl!! I had just taken my isocort 2 hours before (5 tabs). I don't know how I could have high cortisol if I originally had low cortisol, which is why I went on isocort?! And my temps are not 100% stable yet! Could they be unstable with high cortisol? Should I decrease my isocort then?! This is all so overwhelming! > > Isocort would not cause this, but wiht high aldosterone it is a fair > guess oyu may also have high ACTH and high Cortisol. > > -- > Artistic Grooming- Hurricane WV > > http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ > http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/ > http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/RT3_T3/ > http://groups.yahoo.com/group/HypoPets/ >
Guest guest
But your lab MAY have differnt ranges so I woudl not assume anything from thta. Guest guest
Ok Val, sure, will get in contact with my doc, but if it turns out to be the " normal " reference range (i.e. over 30 or so is high), should I then start weaning off my isocort? Even with unstable temps? Also, I can carry on supping my iron at 200mg a day, right? I shouldn't be worried about the 48% transferrin saturation? Thanks again! > > But your lab MAY have differnt ranges so I woudl not assume anything > from thta. Guest guest
No I would not wena off Isocort until you get those labs and probably not then. Low cortils can cause high Rt3 as well, which ususlaly will eventually lower T4 levels, btu they can go high because your body is not able to use thyroid. -- Artistic Grooming- Hurricane WV http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/RT3_T3/ http://groups.yahoo.com/group/HypoPets/

Guest guest
Hi Val, Ok, great thanx! Sorry, just one more thing - I re-read your post and please tell me if I've got this right: If someone has high RT3 and low cortisol, but they raise their cortisol to good levels using HC/isocort for example, but they do not go on any T3 to get rid of the RT3 - then their RT3 levels would INCREASE i.e. Free T4 may increase? But then their RT3 levels and Free T4 levels would decrease when they started T3? Is this correct? Or am I more confused than I think?! > > Yes the iron is fine. > > -- > Artistic Grooming- Hurricane WV > > http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ > http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/ > http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/RT3_T3/ > http://groups.yahoo.com/group/HypoPets/ >
Guest guest
Hayley, I don't think everyone follows the typical symptoms for Graves. My friend was exhausted, gaining weight, etc...she went through so much testing, and FINALLY they figured out she had Graves Disease. Guest guest
Hi Val, So I called my doc about my high aldosterone (69 ng/dl) and apparently he got the units wrong - its actually 69pg/ml and the reference range for the labs is (Erect 40-310pg/ml). So is this reading ok? Or a little on the low side considering I took 5 isocort 2 hours before the test? My potassium is 4.2 (3.5-5.1) and my sodium is 141 (136 -151). Guest guest
Hi Val, Ok, thanks. Is there anything else I can do instead of the florinef, because I know my doc here won't give it to me. He says my result is " normal " . Also, what would be an optimum aldosterone result? Near the top of the range? Could this be why I am battling to stabilise my temps on 5-3-2-1 isocort? Guest guest
Ok Val, but I take isocort, too - would this be ok?! Should I maybe decrease my isocort a bit? Because maybe I don't actually need that much cortisol. When I first started treating my adrenals, I took 1000mg of licorice a day for 3 months without the isocort and didn't get stable temps - so perhaps the combo of decreased isocort and licorice may do the trick? > > Aldosterone should be mid range to 2/3 range to be good.
