Well that was rude for them to make fun... this isn't knowledge you were born with last I checked! To know if you have an autoimmune issue you need to have testing done to look for antibodies. For the life of me the exact tests are escaping me... but if you haven't seen the stop the thyroid madness site here is a whole list of things that can make you hypo... http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/causes-of-hypo/

Can I ask this question here? If I am hypothyroid does this mean I have an auto immune disease? I know what Graves and hashimotos diseases are. Do I have to have one of those or can I just be hypothyroid? I just don't want to be made fun of for asking it like on another forum I was on.

I know, I got mad and quit. I had that test done and I was not showing signs of antibodies. So, I didn't think I have an auto immune disease right?

If you could find them and post them that would help to answer your question better. If you had any antibodies at all, even in range <shouldn't be any> then you would have an autoimmune issue. To answer your question though, not all thyroid disease is autoimmune :) It could be weak adrenal function, low ferritin <stored iron>, or any of the things on the sttm site...

You actually have some antibodies... Are you on thyroid hormones now? Did you ever have RT3 tested?

I see that I do. The test I had prior to this one I didn't have any. Yes, I take 75mcg of T3, I have been for about a year now. I had Rt3 when I was on Armour but stopped taking that one year ago.

Thanks Kitty for your help.

I see that I do. The test I had prior to this one I didn't have any. Yes, I take 75mcg of T3, I have been for about a year now. I had Rt3 when I was on Armour but stopped taking that one year ago.

You actually have some antibodies... Are you on thyroid hormones now? Did you ever have RT3 tested?

Well that was rude for them to make fun... this isn't knowledge you were born with last I checked! To know if you have an autoimmune issue you need to have testing done to look for antibodies. The antibodies come and go if you still have a thyroid. The idea with thyroid meds and hashimoto's is to supress the thyroid enough that their aren't any antibodies. They explain that a bit better on the STTM site. You can also ask questions at NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS I'm not a mod and they know WAY more than me!

Thanks Kitty for filling me in on the info. I appreciate your help. I've been on thryoid meds for a while now but I still don't understand a lot of it, but I keep trying to figure it out. There is so much to learn.
