Guest guest
Do you have the actual test results for everything? You might want to post this to the adrenal group NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS Kitty To: RT3_T3 Sent: Sat, April 10, 2010 6:45:15 PMSubject: Help with hypo/adrenal/hormone issues I am a 33 yr old female. For the last 6 months or so I have been working with my ND to try and figure out what I need to do to feel better. Back in July I had normal TSH but low FT3 and FT4 and high RT3. He put me on generic cytomel and I am currently taking 30 mcgs, been at that dose for awhile and had to fight him to even let me go that high. Labs done in Oct showed that my TSH was suppressed, T3 and T4 were better but still not high enough and my RT3 was lower but still not a good ratio to the FT3. I also have had 2 24 hr saliva tests for cortisol. The first one showed that my cortisol was high 3 of the 4 times and it took a huge dive at the noon reading to below normal. He put me on PS for this. I just repeated the test and I now have a more normal rhythm but, the morning was very high and the rest slightly high. He told me to double my dose of PS. When I first went to see him, I was bleeding every month in between my cycles and he put me on natural progesterone cream--60 mgs every day with no days off. It did stop the bleeding but I was not comfortable being on it every day so I told him that I would like to reduce the dose to 30 and only use it the second half of my cycle. I have only been off of it for 3 days now. My saliva DHEA was also low so he had me start out at 5 mg and work my way up to 15. I can't say that I really felt any better on it but I did start having migraines every month while on it. My last test showed that DHEA was over range now so he had me stop and hopefully the migraines will too. Basically I feel like I have been messing with so many things at once and I don't really feel any better. Definitely not like my old self. Could the high dose of progesterone cream be contributing to my high cortisol?? I am so tired and frustrated and I don't know where else to go from here. Here is a partial list of symptoms--there' s probably more--just can't remember them all. Guest guest
If you can post your saliva cortilsl labs I can help. PS is ONLY for reducing high cortiosl if oyu have lows too thne oyu need ot be careful wiht PS. DHEA also lowers cortils and progesteroine when ti is too high can mimickcortisoland block cortisol receptors. He does NOT have you on enough T3 to do much good. Most of us need about 75mcg. Some need a tad less and some need even more. -- http://nthadrenalsweb.org/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/ http://faqhelp.webs.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/RT3_T3/ http://www.thyroid-rt3.com/ http://groups.yahoo.com/group/HypoPets/ http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/

Guest guest
Well OS is not what I would have recommended the first set of labs and it has pushed you form stage two into stage three. I would now recommend PS abitu 500mg 2 hours before bedtime, and during the day rhodiola and 50mg Zinc in the morning. Melatonin 1-3mg at bedtime may also help wiht sleep. You shoul also have ferritin tested as tht has alot to do with high RT3 in many people. -- http://nthadrenalsweb.org/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/ http://faqhelp.webs.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/RT3_T3/ http://www.thyroid-rt3.com/ http://groups.yahoo.com/group/HypoPets/ http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/
Guest guest
, well I don't really have any answers for you, as I am too just starting to explore all this stuff. But I did want to comment on the progesterone. I have always wondered if that was a problem I have too. My progesterone has always tested high and I have most of my "bad" times happen during that part of my cycle. If you look at the hormonal cascade it goes from pregnenlone, to progesterone, to cortisol. So yes, I think it is possible that your progesterone is filtering down into cortisol. This is just a guess on my part, but it has been something I have been speculating within my own issues. S .. Could the high dose of progesterone cream be contributing to my high cortisol?? Guest guest
Val, so how do you know for sure if progesterone is blocking cortisol receptors? What can yo do to correct that? Guest guest
I do believe it si only whne progesterone is too high & cortisol is low that it begins to mimick cortils and thus block cortilsl receptos, The fix would be to raise cortils as the receptors are much more attracted to their own molecule than to even a mimick. Low coritls causes alot more issues than we talkk abotu and this is one of them and why we nee dot work on cortils issues before we really can optimize other hormones. -- http://nthadrenalsweb.org/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/ http://faqhelp.webs.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/RT3_T3/ http://www.thyroid-rt3.com/ http://groups.yahoo.com/group/HypoPets/ http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/

Guest guest
Currently I am taking a product called Calm-PRT. It is a mixture of rhodiola and PS. I am taking 1000 mgs before bed. The only zinc I am taking is in my multivitamin--20 mgs. What would the extra zinc be for? I had my ferritin testedlast summer. It was 15.60 (range 6.24-137). The only iron I am taking is in my multivitamin as well. My ND did not seem to concerned about the ferritin. My B12 is above the range. How do I convince my doc to let me go higher with the T3? I feel like if I can get the cortisol under control then maybe my other hormones will level themselves out as well. Problem is my stress level is high. I have 3 kids, one with a life-threatening genetic disease, we are a military family, hubby is deployed for the next 6 months so I'm on my own, frequent moves, no family support. Basically my stress isn't going away any time soon:) > > , well I don't really have any answers for you, as I am too just starting to explore all this stuff.
