I am not concerned to even have mine tested. If my FREE testosterone or

Free Egtrigen shoudl show problems then I might, but thus far I ahve not

seen that issue. As I state d earlier my T is coming up very nicely on

T3 and that is the FREE T so I do nto believe it si a huge issue AS long

as you do nto go HYPER.

Thanks for your thoughts on this. So when my Ft3 was 9.1, I was obviously hyper. Will reducing the T3 take care of any changes brought on by being hyper or should I have these tests and if I should could you please tell me which I would need to do?Thanks so much Val,VeniziaSubject: Re: Val, concern about all this talk about SBGH, testosterone etcTo: RT3_T3 Date: Sunday, April 18, 2010, 7:43 PM

Another thing.. Hyper form ANY thyroid hormone wil raise SHBG just the

same. It is not JUST T3.

SHBG does nto " stick " at a high level, and whne the hormones that were

too high caused it to go up are reduced it seem s to go down quickly. I

suspect it may even work as a reservoir for the homrones it binds,

releasing the bound hormones as it falls, though i have not seen this in

any study it would make sense as there MUST be a reason for this hormone

binding substance but it may just be there as a safety net to prevent

too many hormones from damaging the body when they get too high. SHBG

goes up and down form Estrogen, Testosterone and Thyroid any of which

being too high will raise it. I just now read an article that suggests

LOW SHBG may be one of the cause of Diabetes Mellitus (Type 2) in women

but not in men which further links LOW SHBG to low thyroid.

Very interesting. I mean, even if you have perfect levels of FT4, FT3, TSH, Ferritin and so on.. You can still be Hypothyroid. Low SHBG can prove that. Mark Starr, Hertoghe, etc. they all treat people by SYMPTOMS first, but use bloodwork as a backup, for thigns such as SHBG and other levels that might be too low, hinting towards Hypothyroidism.
