Guest guest
We seem to be in the same boat. Based on Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis, all of my kiddoes are now on thyroid.. all had 'normal' labs. AND, all appear to have adrenal hormone resistance issues, as well. I really noticed how crazy things became when it took almost two weeks to get a refill. After a while the chaos started taking over again, and they started breaking down over small stuff and my oldest was like a squirrel on jolt... and remember, I havdn't had my thyroid either. We were a mess. BUT that was when I realized how much of a difference the thyroid had made in our children. My oldest just completed an HPA prfile and adrenal saliva test. I am anxious to get it in the mail tomorrow and see what comes of it. Never Give Up! j ........................................ > dont know about all of them but for my kid(s) it was the root problem...also adrenal issues were present as well > >

Guest guest
How much could the adrenals play a factor? If a kid has low adrenal function and is uncomfortable and unble to cope with stress, perhaps, some of the school would could cause a stress reaction wtihin and they can't cope.. so, distraction could be a solution? And, as stated before, they aren't going to know or understand it. I used to fog out in school (~14-15). For me, it wasn't like a distraction thing. It was like a brain dead thing. I would just zone out. I had one teacher who was sensitive to it and would stop teaching to ask me is I was ok when I did it. It would help bring me back. It was not uncommon for him to check in on me. God Bless Him! (suspect life long thyroid, possibly adrenal issues.. heat stroke (?) at 14) Also, when I was intimidated or afraid, I'd fog out. It was like going into shock and I would hear nothing...even though I was listening. Which then mades things worse... so, anxiety? Never Give UP! j ........................................... > > well i think that what is called adhd might actually be that brain fog that those of us with low thyroid are familiar with....that bad memory foggy brain thing..and in kids it gets labeled as adhd..and my girls had anxiety as well... Guest guest
Yep, been there done that.. also had emotional issues in family(was that polite)(untreated thyroid and adrenal issues. hmmm) growing up... and a death in the family as a baby. I read somewhere (wish I had the source), that people who experienced such traumas in their childhoods are just more difficult to treat. Their bodies are just different and don't work the same way. If I find the info, I will post it. But, that lines up with what you are saying about the brain changes. Never Give Up! j > > I do know that image scans of the brain show damage depending on the kind of trauma one endures, i.e., physical abuse looks different on a brain scan than emotional abuse. And that damage can't be reversed as far as I know. So it may explain why *some* people still need neurotransmatter help beyond fixing their adrenals and thyroid issues. For me, taking neurotransmatter precursors (amino acids) has helped a LOT, but things get really wonky if my HC or t3 isn't quite right. And getting those right, well, you don't want me to go on about that, lol! ;-) But I guess it just shows how interrelated everything is. Guest guest
Considering that most abusers where themselves abused, probably...j > > i wonder if abusers brains are different in part due to adrenal issues they have too!! >
Guest guest
Hey there, I am surprised to hear of a 7yo that is almost 5ft tall. Is this the standard for your family? Could something hormonal be involved with this, as well? Which could maybe help find out what the underlying issues are? Also, what about prick testing for the thyroid? No vein involved. Also, a standard Endo stated he uses saliva testing - right before he wanted to get me on Synthroid and regulate my TSH - so maybe that could be a direction, as well. And there is always urine... Give her a great big hug. And remind her how beautiful she it. Never Give Up! j .......................... Guest guest
We did genetic testing, but according to the pediatric geneticist, because everything was big (head, feet, height) that typically rules out a genetic issue. And that's what the blood work showed. I am 5'5 " , but my dad is 6'3 " . My sister is tall, too. My husband is 6'. I think his father is tall, too. (I have never met him.) So, it's not completely unusual in my family. I'm probably the smallest female, but my sister, aunts, female cousins, etc. are all quite tall and large boned. Same in my husband's family. His mother is probably the smallest at 5'5 " . My 7 yo also wears a womens shoe size 7 1/2. I'll check into the prick testing. The coolest thing is, she doesn't consider herself fat. My son was talking the other day that he believes so many Americans are fat because there are so many Mc's. My daughter stated it was good thing none of us are fat. ;-) And she is quite beautiful. Very exotic looking with my American Indian heritage.
