Guest guest
Hi Becki my 7yr son seems always to be covered in bruises, and like they are quite small and everywhere. He is on 15mg of mtx weekly, and ibrufen. I used to think that it was just because he was an active 7yr old and got the normal bumps etc.. but i'm sure that his older brother and sister never had this many bruises when they were his age. He also seems to get pin prick spots on parts of his body, back of arms, stomach, legs etc. He sometimes looks quite a site.lol All the best love Gia & ph > is bruising alot also. Most of the time I think it is because he > has been fealing so good ,being a wild boy.But he will get bruises on > his arms, stomach and back that are no bigger than your little > finger, dont know how he got those. Then I look at his sister and shes > covered in bruises, makes me feal better but I still wonder if there is > something more to it.With JRA and all these meds you never know. > Becki and 3systemic

Guest guest
Becky, Logan's bruises look like little dots,,almost like someone has been poking him with an eraser. Then there are all the ones on his shins,,and today when I was putting his sandles on,he said " I can't wear those, cause they give me bruises " ,and sure enough,,there were 2 bruises right where his straps were. Very strange,,I may call the ped. tomorrow. Kim and Logan 4 & 1/

Guest guest
Jackie, I just got back from my monthly Dr. Appointment. I moved it forward because of bruising. I actually got bruises on my fingertips. I was working and felt a kind of numbness and stinging at the same time, looked and the inside tips of my fingers looked like grapes?? I KNOW I did not hit or lift anything. I have been having this a lot, first pain on a joint, and then a bruise. The Dr. said my bloodwork (had it done Saturday) was fine, but that I should realize that my skin is an organ and that I have a connective tissue disease, and some of this is just from that??BUT, he did say anytime I have bruising that is unusual; sore throat; fever, and feel more ill than normal, I am to call him immediately and have a STAT blood test, just to be sure it is nothing else. Sometimes people make rude comments, I just tell them they should see the other guy! Take Care, Carol M.
Guest guest
Thanks for e-mailing back about the bruising. I'll have to remember your come back to the comments! I go to my rheumy this morning, so I guess we'll see what my bloodwork looks like. Thanks for the info.......it made me feel better......I was really beginning to worry. Guest guest
Jackie, My doc said people with PA bruise easily. I am covered in bruises all the time! I am also very fair skinned so they look even worse. I get comments about my doctor being a " quack " because he can't " fix me " . Are you sure we aren't married to the same man?!!! My husband has said the exact same thing! He hates doctors and thinks they are all full of BS. He says they never help me. I have had trouble with getting my spouse to understand the PA thing too (read the archives). That all this pain isn't in my head. He doesn't understand why I can't work full time, etc. He thinks I am on a ridiculous amount of medications and doesn't understand why I have to take them and why I continue to take them when they don't help me. He thinks taking all of these medications actually make me sicker! My husband never gets sick and when he does he won't even take aspirin! He doesn't understand why I don't get well. He doesn't understand the concept of chronic. I don't think he can fathom the idea that I won't ever be completely well again. I just let it go and don't talk to him about me being sick anymore. It's easier that way. We get along better this way. Sure it would be great if he was supportive in my disease (he is in every other way) but I guess that's his weird way of coping with it. Email me at leslieiansa@... if you want to further discuss this. hugs,

The disease we share can be deceiving. We may look " fine " , but can barely move. Pain is not something that you see like chicken pox or measles. But, I agree with your husbands. I tried many different meds before I found what worked for me, MTX. I can't understand why a person would continue to take lots of different drugs (some potentially harmful), while not getting relief. And I do believe that taking the " wrong " meds or even meds that don't work is harmful and can make you worse. Maybe I am just one of the Lucky ones that, tried a bunch of drugs, & found one that works for me. Good Luck, Stay Well
Guest guest
Ester, I have constant reddish bruises on my arms. I bruise even when they put hospital tape on after blood work, and when I had my EKG I got huge red bruises where the stickems that hold the leads were. I have read in two books about Hepatitis C that bruising can be a symptom of HCV. I have Stage 4 cirrhosis so that kinda goes along with what Dave said. Maybe I'll start taking Vitamin K, I'm taking practically every other vitamin and herb in the world! C [ ] bruising BruisingCirrhosis can lead to a deficiency in vitamin K. This can lead to easy bruising. If you are experiencing easy bruising, tell your health care provider because this symptom can often be reversed with appropriate treatment. Guest guest
Dear Chef, Again, you are what I would recommend for bruising. Are you getting enough bioflavanoids in with the vit. C? Like maybe try 500 mgs. a day to see if that helps; you can buy it separately too. Stress would also interfere with your ability to absorb nutrients, in addition to the candida - lo? The two together do not promote assimilation, etc. Hove I mentioned how cayenne pepper has aspirin-type properties and it may not be good to have. I think I posted something earlier about it. I know how you love it, but maybe check into it and see what you think. Are you getting enough cal/mag, especially magnesium, and also zinc may be a factor in bruising. Again, it could be going backwards through illnesses, injuries, etc. too. Guest guest
Hey Aj, My daughter meaghan was the exact same way a few weeks back. I asked the ped. and he called the rheumy and he said that it is common in kids with JRA. Something to do with there immunity level(the doctor had some big medical term to explain), but it boiled down to the immunity and I was told do not worry unless they do not fade after a few weeks or become extremely sore. Bridget Bruising Hi all..... I have a question............Holly has a lot of bruises, and i am not saying she didn't bump them, but the kiddo has over 20 on her legs right now..........some pretty big.............when do you start (or stop) worrying??...........please tell me to sit down shut up and stop worrying so much!!!!! Guest guest
n, use to bruise bad when she was younger. The Doctor even commented That must be a Tomboy. lolol. The bruises look worse than they are. If your concerned call the doctor. still bruises off anf on and she say's Mom I didn't bump myself. I think It's the Immune system Could be Medication as well. Since some of the meds do have the side effect of bruiseing. Aspirin and Ibuprofen will cause it as well. Also low platelet count will cause it too. All in All girls will be girls. Some are just rougher than boys lolol. If the bruises don't go away in a week or they become bigger call the doctor. 's bruises first are greenish in color then purple then the faded look. Dress her in style colors to match. I am joking on that. I told she needed to match and she said no I just dont like those colors lololol Have a good weekend, Robbin

Guest guest
AJ, I know s a boy but he has Holly beat. His teacher even made the comment that he looks like he wrecked a go kart going 100.I know has bumped something also but I still believe these kids bruise easier then others. I have asked this question several times and will bring it up again Monday.Dr.Lovell told me as long as they are mostly from the kness down and elbows down it's all right, those are the areas kids bump the most.He was more concerned with lots of bruising on the trunk area. I wouldn't worry about it but bring it up the next time you se a dr. Love and hugs Becki and 6 systemic
Guest guest
--Hi AJ, Aundrea is in the same boat as Holly. Around 15-20 bruises mostly on her thighs. I checked them out prior to bedtime and she woke up the next morning with new ones, so I am pretty certain that they aren't induced from bumping something. She had this problem last summer too. I am getting her labs picked up on Monday, so I will see if anything is going on there. We have our rheumy appointment on Tuesday along with derm and opth. I am definately going to inquire about the bruises and I will let you know what I find out. As far as meds, we havent had any real change with them in several months. (Still on Plq, and Mtx. inj.) Has Holly ever had the bruising problem before? Guest guest
Jumping in a bit late on this, but when was on high doses of Celebrex (800 mgs a day) he bruised a lot and they took awhile to heal. We were told it was because of the meds. Now that he is off, he does not bruise like that anymore. I would check with the dr to be sure. Also some kids just bruise easy - like my oldest dd. The ped said it looked like someone took a baseball bat to her shins when she was small. She still bruises easy, and she has no immune system problems. Good luck, Michele ( 17, pauci & spondy) Bruising Hi all.....
