Guest guest
Hi Lindsey-- What kind of PT excercises have you been doing? I have been paying attention to whether or not I am clenching too...I do lots of yoga so this is a practice I am used to doing in the rest of my body. I notice that a lot of times I am clenching in my vaginal area, but not all the time. I have found a PT in my area and gotten a referral, I am just waiting to follow up on a bunch of other tests first (lyme, enterolab, etc) so as not to overwhelm myself. > > Could it be this simple? Guest guest
I have also been going to PT for six weeks, my insurance only pays for four more visits, I am not sure how much it has helped, but I am looser down there, at home everyday I stretch my hamstrings and periformis, then do 20 bulges (push out like having a baby, going poo etc.), Do some sets of kegel exercises, massage the perineal area, and then stretch the area (using a sharpie marker) for 2 minutes each at 6 o'clock, 5 o'clock, and seven o'clock, and I got a dilator to work with now as well , Anne --On Monday, October 2, 2006 2:59 PM +0000 femifesto wrote: > > > > > > Hi Lindsey-- > > What kind of PT excercises have you been doing? > > I have been paying attention to whether or not I am clenching too...I do > lots of yoga so this > is a practice I am used to doing in the rest of my body. Guest guest
I've been doing the skin rolling exercises and the stretching. I found an article somewhere online that said tightness in a certain hip muscle can be referred as vulvar pain. That hip muscle seems to be very tight AND it is also a muscle that I clench when I drive (which I do a lot of for work). I also set my phone alarm to go off at random times throughout the day, to remind me to unclench my vaginal muscles and upper thighs. Each time that alarm went off I found I was unconscously clenching those muscles, and often my back, buttocks, etc., to prevent pelvis from moving and jarring any painful areas. The yeast has been an ongoing problem, and I actually stopped the long-term (for two weeks) diflucan when I got a few cultures back saying I had an overgrowth of good bacteria, and those symptoms can be the same as a yeast overgrowth. However, I have had SO MANY cultures come back for yeast maybe those good bacteria overgrowths were just my body's way of fighting back. Lindsey > > > > Could it be this simple? Guest guest
NO, NO, NO!!!!!!!!!!! Find a different PT for your next 4 visits. You should not be doing kegel excercises until your resting down is way down. You should NEVER be doing any pushing. And if you are going to stretch, use your fingers. And please be careful of stretching your piriformis and hamstrings, this is a good idea, but please be gentle and be sure you have good form while doing it. If you want more info on PT check out the happypelvis site and look at old posts. It is slow on the group right now, but still I feel it is the best info on PT. Also check out a site called the Road to Slainte by Molly . You should be able to google it and find it. I'm so glad that you are open to PT, but this PT is NOT your answer. I feel this is why people give up so easily on PT. There are so few good ones out there who really know what they're doing. with love, Molly (A PT success story)Anne Mcgee wrote: I have also been going to PT for six weeks, my insurance only pays for four more visits, I am not sure how much it has helped, but I am looser down there, at home everyday I stretch my hamstrings and periformis, then do 20 bulges (push out like having a baby, going poo etc.), Do some sets of kegel exercises, massage the perineal area, and then stretch the area (using a sharpie marker) for 2 minutes each at 6 o'clock, 5 o'clock, and seven o'clock, and I got a dilator to work with now as well , Anne--On Monday, October 2, 2006 2:59 PM +0000 femifesto <femifesto> wrote:>>>>>> Hi Lindsey-->> What kind of PT excercises have you been doing?>> I have been paying attention to whether or not I am clenching too...I do> lots of yoga so this> is a practice I am used to doing in the rest of my body. Otherwise the antifungal will compromise the test. Apparently it takes that long for antifungals to completely work their way out of the body. Unfortunately, I learned this the hard way. Guest guest
My PT works with a lot of pelvic disorders at the university of Michigan, and to clarify, I am not using the dilators to stretch, I just put it in with lubricant for ten minutes, also, why are kegels so bad?? on my second visit she hooked me up to a biofeedback machine, though we only used it once, and my resting level was actually low she said, Anne --On Tuesday, October 3, 2006 4:19 AM -0700 molly ring wrote: > > > > > > NO, NO, NO!!!!!!!!!!! > > Find a different PT for your next 4 visits. Guest guest
Hi, sorry to be so blunt. I was sorry about that as soon as I pressed send. Does she do internal stretching? Has she checked your pudendal nerve? What is her reasoning for doing kegels? Is it to strengthen? Or is to learn to relax in between? Has she suggested a take home biofeedback machine? To be sure that your resting tone can be low even when the kids are screaming and the phone is ringing and there is a suspenseful show on TV? Does she do skin rolling? Why is she having you push - that is really a no no. It seems that the highly respected names in PT do not use dilators. Sure you can put them in, but do they do any good in terms of stretching your muscles. Are you ever in pretty serious pain during PT? What did I do in PT? When I finally found a good one, she dove right in and found so many sore muscles. She found that my pudendal nerve was extremely sensitive to touch. She worked on my connective tissue - skin rolling. And, oh my did she hurt me. She did things that were so painful, but I could tell she was accomplishing getting muscles to release and connective tissue to smooth. I was black and blue after my first few visits. I also saw Rhonda in Chicago for an eval several years later and she had the same matter of fact manner and confidance. I also had a take home biofeedback machine which I loved. Some people don't, but it is relatively cheap to try it. 50 a month to rent. I am concerned about the pushing and kegels. If you are in michigan, would it be impossible to make a trip to see Rhonda? Maybe at least get on her waiting list while you think about it as it is long. Perhaps your PT would be willing to go with you. love, MollyAnne Mcgee wrote: My PT works with a lot of pelvic disorders at the university of Michigan, and to clarify, I am not using the dilators to stretch, I just put it in with lubricant for ten minutes, also, why are kegels so bad?? on my second visit she hooked me up to a biofeedback machine, though we only used it once, and my resting level was actually low she said, Anne--On Tuesday, October 3, 2006 4:19 AM -0700 molly ring <mering00> wrote:>>>>>> NO, NO, NO!!!!!!!!!!!>> Find a different PT for your next 4 visits. Guest guest
I'll bring your ideas up with my therapist, she is open and since I havn't noticed any difference yet she wants more feedback from me, I think she is having me do the kegels because I was weak, but I'll ask her, she seems to think by just getting down in there, stretching, etc. that the pain will subside, at first it hurt a bit, but now it is easier, at the beginning I could bare just one finger and now she says I am resisting two fingers without much pain, though I don't notice any change in the vestibule, Anne Quoting molly ring : > Hi, > > sorry to be so blunt.
